The Top 6 Skeletons in Comics
Happy Halloween, everybody! Through the magic of calendars and the slow, unending passage of time, Halloween is on a Wednesday this week, the day I release my List of Six! And what better way to celebrate Halloween and this geeky comic blog than a spooky listicle! How about skeletons?
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love the pageantry, and I love the premise of kids getting dressed up in costumes and going door-to-door for candy, and the idea of adults getting dressed up and going to parties. It’s insane and I love it. And I like celebrating Halloween on my blog with a look at spooky things in comics. I’ve done ghosts, witches, Cerberus and classic movie monsters. Now it’s time for skelingtons! Or skeletons, whichever pronunciation you prefer.
Join me after the jump for the best, boniest skeletons in comic books!
Honestly, the New Doctor Who is Still Great!
I’m definitely enjoying Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor. She’s fun, and her episodes have been pretty cool so far. And to celebrate — and partially because I’ve been pretty busy this week, and haven’t found any other neat videos to share — let’s enjoy these big Honest Trailers recaps of both eras of Doctor Who.
Keep watching! Keep enjoying! And hopefully my vacation will start soon enough!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/27/18
Why do my favorite comics only come out on the same week? I’ll get a whole truckload of great comics I love, so I’m doing upwards of 8 reviews in one week! And then we’ll get a week like this, where I scrape together a couple comics I’d mostly given up on just to have something to review and post about. It’s not fair.
We’re going to dive back into The Silencer and Amazing Spider-Man this week. And I go on a pretty ugly rant about how much I dislike the new direction of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. But at least Action Comics wins Comic Book of the Week…by default. Though it’s not bad.
Meanwhile, I nearly forgot to post these reviews because I was gearing up to spend my entire Saturday playing Red Dead Redemption 2, so you know where my head is at this weekend.
Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1004, Amazing Spider-Man #8, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #32 and The Silencer #10.
There’s Gonna Be Another How to Train Your Dragon
They’re making another How to Train Your Dragon movie, completing a trilogy that was clearly never meant to be a trilogy. Could be fun, though.
I loved the first movie, but didn’t particularly care about the second. It was pretty clear that the first movie was never meant tot have follow-ups, but when the money sings, more movies need to be made. So in coming up with a sequel idea, the writers abused one of my least favorite tropes: taking away what makes the hero special by making it some kind of family destiny.
In the first film, Hiccup is the first viking ever to bond with and train a dragon, since everybody else just fights with them. He’s a maverick as he teams up with Toothless and becomes the first ever dragon knight!
Exceeeeeept…the sequel reveals that his long-lost mother has totally been training dragons for forever, and it’s totally not something unique and special to Hiccup. I hate that trope.
Here’s hoping the threequel is better. It’s subtitled “The Hidden World” about the hidden homeworld of dragons…but then both the first and second films had a hidden dragon land where they all lived comfortably. So how is this new hidden world any different?

What Do You Do When You’ve Already Done a Video on Michael Myers?
I’m a big fan of the Tell It Animated guy, who does quirky videos about the changing movie looks of famous movie characters. But he needs as much help with search engine optimization as I do, because even though the new Halloween movie is the talk of the town right now, he already made a Michael Myers video months ago!
So how about a Leatherface video?
I’ve never seen a single Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. And I hadn’t seen a Halloween movie until I saw this new one the other week. It was fine. I’m just not interested in slasher or horror films. But these animated videos are fun!
