My 6 Most Anticipated Movies of 2019
Happy 2019, everyone! Let’s hope it’s a good year! I’ve got a couple of fires on the burner. Expect some big Gamer Girl & Vixen news this month! And there’s a ton of new movies I’m really excited to see! Let’s talk about those.
Going to see movies has become a really involved hobby of mine. I like to do some short, quippy reviews on Facebook afterwards, and I’ve been writing full-on reviews for my newspaper day job for a few months now. I just love seeing movies! Even with MoviePass out of my life, I still like heading to the theater and taking in a flick. And these are the six movies I’m most excited to see going into the new year!
Have You Heard of Pitch Meeting?
My brother turned me onto these videos from Screen Rant. A dude named Ryan George does this rapid back-and-forth pitch meetings for popular movies, with the screenwriter pitching the movie to the studio executive. They’re pretty funny! Here’s the newest one, for X-Men: First Class:
There’s a whole bunch of these, and I’ve been marathoning them pretty heavily over the past day or so. They’re a good bit!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/29/18
Welcome to the last comic book reviews of 2018! Considering it’s the week of Christmas, there simply weren’t many comics released this week. Quite strange. But I’m a man who likes to read his comics, so let’s do this anyway!
Hold your horses, Sean! Turns out, you only read two comics this week and lazily skipped over some others. So while Uncanny X-Men was a bit of a bummer, you definitely loved the wedding issue of Fantastic Four! Nuptials for Comic Book of the Week!
Meanwhile, I got lazy and skipped the first issues of the new X-Force and Superior Spider-Man comics. I don’t really care about any of the X-Force characters, and I’m disappointed that Otto went back to being Superior Spider-Man instead of his badass new Superior Octopus identity. We’ve got enough Spider-People in comics these days! Did anybody read these issues? Am I missing out?
Comic Reviews: Fantastic Four #5 and Uncanny X-Men #7.
Oh Hey, Stilt-Man is Alive Again!
Comics give and comics take. It’s a vicious cycle of pain and hope. Last week, one of my all-time favorite comic book characters — the Mimic — was killed in the pages of Extermination. I was pretty bummed.
But his death won’t stick, not forever. A good example of that is the fact that the original Stilt-Man, Wilbur Day, was resurrected this week in the pages of Superior Spider-Man! Turns out, he was cloned back to life by the Jackal during Clone Conspiracy, and then was given a new clone body, so he didn’t melt like all the rest.
It’s a bit of a stretch resurrection, and this might also be considered a mere clone of Wilbur Day…but I think I’ll take it. I could use a nice, happy resurrection after last week.
Wilbur Day was killed in the wake of Civil War by the Punisher, way back when. He was then replaced by Lady Stilt-Man, of whom I am the internet’s highest authority. There were also some mooks who took over the identity while Day was dead, who also fought Superior Spider-Man.
And that’s your Stilt-Man history lesson for today! I’m still waiting on that Marvel Legends version. Or LEGO mini-fig.

My 6 Favorite Things of 2018
It’s that time of year again! My annual roundup of the pop culture I enjoyed, just like every other website and blog worth its salt. But unlike those fancy pants websites with their paid writers and access to advanced screenings, I’m just a schlub typing away at his computer, enjoying what sweet little things come my way!

Thank god it’s almost over
2018 has been an OK year, I guess. I don’t have any major accomplishments to brag about. I’m still working on making my own comics, with more Gamer Girl & Vixen news to come in the new year. I haven’t lost any weight, but I remain confident that maybe I will someday. And I’m not dead yet! That always counts for something.
The following list is just my favorite, most memorable shows, movies, toys and whatnot I encountered in 2018. Some things, like movies, were released on 2018. Other things, like TV shows and comics, are often ongoing and extend beyond just 2018, but they were my favorites in 2018. It’s not that complicated. And, as always, I am wholly out of touch with new music, so that’s not a category.
Feel free to share your own favorite things from the past year in the comments!
