There’s Gonna be More Twisted Metal!

I write this to you in the middle of a snowstorm, which is coming already on top of the worst winter the northeast has had in some years. So yeah, jeez. And through all of this storm, I’ve still got to buy a new car. Life is fine.

But at least we’ve got a trailer for a second season of Twisted Metal! And starring the man of the hour, Anthony Mackie!

I very much enjoyed the first season of Twisted Metal. It was a fun, silly show that had great action and took itself the right balance of silly and serious. And season two looks like it’ll be even more fun!

Also, we are not getting more Twisted Metal the game, if that’s what you thought my headline meant…sorry.

Also also, I really liked Mackie in the new Captain America film! I may or may not have a review up this week, depending on how this snowstorm goes.

Twisted Metal will return to Peacock this summer.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/15/25

Readers, you would not believe the month I’m having. Jeez louise. I’m only one man! But at least we’ve got good comics still coming out, like Absolute Batman and the new One World Under Doom.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Green Lantern Corps #1 for a nice return to form for the GL stories I enjoy. Give me all the space cops!

That’s some good Green Lanterning

Meanwhile, I’ve got to buy a new car. And I did not save up for having to buy a new car, even though I knew I needed to. So I’m buying this thing based on what savings I do have at the moment, so it’s not great! Which means I’ve got to make Dragon Age: Veilguard and Stardew Valley last a bit longer in terms of entertainment. Avowed and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II are going to have to wait!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #5, Green Lantern Corps #1, One World Under Doom #1 and X-Men #11.

Friendship Looks Like a Weird and Fun Movie

In this content drought that is winter, I’m open to enjoying and posting most anything. Like this trailer for a new A24 movie called Friendship, starring Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson. Looks like it’ll be funny!

Looks like they’re turning a wacky buddy comedy into a tense thriller. I like that approach. Though now that I think about it, why not just make a wacky buddy comedy that stays a wacky buddy comedy, but it’s filmed like a tense thriller? Movies should be more experimental like that. Or maybe this one is just gonna be a weird, fun one. I could go for one of those.

Friendship comes to theaters in May!

Thunderbolts* Still Looks Fun as Hell!

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl because I never watch the Super Bowl. It’s just not my thing. But you best believe I watched the new Thunderbolts* trailer the moment I saw it show up online. And it still looks fun as all heck!

The trailer is a little choppy for my tastes, but the song is a fun choice and the humor/head butting still looks super entertaining. I have a lot of high hope for this film. I think Thunderbolts* is going to tap into the same charm as the first Avengers film, wherein we take familiar (or semi-familiar) characters and have them team up and butt heads and banter, then learn to work as a team. That’s exactly what I want to see, and that’s exactly what it looks like we’ll get, so yeah, I have high hopes.

Thunderbolts* comes to theaters on May 2!

And this weekend is Captain America: Brave New World! So that’s fun too.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/8/25

There are so many good comics I wish I had kept reading, but had dropped for whatever unimportant reason. I really, really want to get caught back up with Scarlet Witch! And Birds of Prey! But one comic I’m not dropping anytime soon is…

Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #4, which is probably my favorite of the Absolute comics. They’ve all been phenomenal so far, but Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval are working some real magic with this new Superman!

And he isn’t American

Meanwhile, I’m still playing through Dragon Age: Veilguard and Stardew Valley, so I have successfully been able to stop myself from splurging on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, though I will very much be playing that game soon! Currently making my way through the final season of Doom Patrol at long last, am really enjoying the new season of Severance, and am reading Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal by Garth Ennis. Fun book!

Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #4.
