Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/19/25
We’re back, baby! Just as we are every week, talking about new comics and whatnot. Been a busy week. But I found time to read a couple of comics, like Wonder Woman and Exceptional X-Men.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Flash #2 for helping me to better understand and appreciate what this comic might actually be about. Though knowing myself, I’m probably way off.
Meanwhile, I’m wrapping up Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and had a blast with this game! Lived up to all the hype and expectations! I enjoyed the finale of Daredevil: Born Again and hope to have my full review/thoughts posted next week. And I’m currently working my way through The Pitt, a show that is also living up to the hype around it.
Double meanwhile, the Kickstarter campaign remains ongoing for The Museum of the Uncanny, a comics anthology in which I have a short story! So if you’d like to support my comics work and a bunch of other creative people, head on over and check out the campaign!
Comic Reviews: Absolute Flash #2, Exceptional X-Men #8 and Wonder Woman #20.

Randomly, for all I know, we got a new, full-sized trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps today, and holy cow, it looks so damn good! The characters, the effects, the personal stakes, the drama, the scale and scope; this is one gorgeous trailer, people!
So good! They go into so much, without giving away too much, in my opinion. Or maybe I’m still just too hyped about this trailer. Loved the look at the team, loved the look of the Silver Surfer. I have no problem with Marvel switching from Norrin Radd to Shalla-Bal. Seems a perfectly ordinary and uninteresting change to me. And then we get just enough Galactus tease to make me happy. I love the look, I love the feel, I love the retro-futurism, I love that new theme song; hot damn this looks to be an exciting movie!
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming to theaters on July 25.

There Will Be More Deep Space Discounts!
Earlier this year, I posted a bunch of cartoons from YouTube artist DeepBlueInk in which he created his own original series. It was called Deep Space Discounts and it was about a space Best Buy prison. Great little show! And there’s going to be more!
So yeah, that’s great news. And I wish DeepBlueInk all the luck in the world to raise money and sell merch and make a second season! This is a creator making his dream come true, and I can definitely identify with that. More power to him!

Hench-Sized Comic Reviews – 4/12/25
I don’t know about you, but weeks have started to feel very long these days. Thankfully, this week still managed to come to an end, so we’ve got that going for us. Solid week for comics, though I didn’t read too many. At least we’ve got new Absolute Batman, eh?
Comic Book of the Week goes to Amazing Spider-Man #1 for a solid, enjoyable relaunch of the main Spider-Man series, which I am again willing to check out.
Meanwhile, I’ve got a short comic story in a new anthology that’s on Kickstarter right now! Museum of the Uncanny is a collection of short stories about weird and quirky artifacts, and my story is called “The Normal Quesadilla Maker That Definitely Can’t Talk.” So if you enjoy reading my comic reviews, I invite you to check out the Kickstarter and perhaps support my comic writing as well! You can also order physical copies of both Gamer Girl & Vixen books as add-ons in this campaign.
Also, I watched the fifth season of the Harley Quinn cartoon and am super pleased to say that it is back on form! Really entertaining season that felt like the early seasons again.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Batman #7 and Amazing Spider-Man #1.

For my money, I think AppleTV+ has the best shows when it comes to streaming. I watch all sorts of TV shows across all streaming services, and AppleTV+ is pretty much nothing but bangers. I haven’t loved all of their shows equally, but they have more hits than misses. And next up is Murderbot, which looks really fun.
I’m a little disappointed when he takes off his helmet to look human…but the narration and comedy and sci-fi elements look like they’re really fun! So Murderbot is definitely on my list of upcoming shows to watch!
Murderbot comes to AppleTV+ on May 16.
