New The Matrix Resurrections Trailer is Less Interesting
I’m back to not knowing what to make of The Matrix Resurrections. It’s definitely going to be a big movie, with a lot of sound and thunder. But will it be its own movie? Or will it just be a loose remake of the first film? The Deju Vu trailer had been pondering the mysteries of Resurrections. This new trailer, released today, has me assuming it’s all just shouting and explosions.
I’m also, for sure, missing that cool rendition of “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. Say what you will about music in movie trailers, but I remain a huge fan of using popular songs in fun aways, even when they’re slow, somber covers of peppier songs.
I just think this was a less interesting trailer than everything we’ve seen so far. Who knows what the heck this movie is going to be in the end. But I suppose we’ll find out on Dec. 22.

Behold Our First Look at Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is inarguably the greatest Spider-Man movie of all time, and could be the greatest movie of all time. So a sequel was inevitable and it’s coming next year! The first teaser trailer/look arrived yesterday and it looks neat as heck.
Part One? So this is going to be a two-part movie? Fascinating.
If I’m being honest, I think the name is a little problematic. “Across the Spider-Verse”? So we’re supposed to differentiate these movies for all time based only on the words “Into” and “Across” And then “Across 1” and “Across 2”? Sounds like madness to me!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One arrives in October 2022!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/4/21
Good morning, everybody! We’re two weeks away from Spider-Man: No Way Home and I just got my booster shot yesterday. Life is good, and comics are plentiful. This week sees the likes of more Amazing Spider-Man, Wonder Girl and Trial of Magneto!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Darkhawk #4 for a very nice issue that finally stops and smells the roses. Not enough comics stop to smell all the roses they themselves are planting.
Meanwhile, I finished the live action Cowboy Bebop on Netflix and I was not impressed. It was a well-made show, but I felt nothing…other than feeling like going back and checking out the original anime. But then I totally loved the second half of Masters of the Universe: Revelations! Those story twists and that grand finale were some epic stuff, and it was all really damn cool. Those 10 episodes will be quick to binge if anybody hasn’t yet.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #80, Darkhawk #4, Wonder Girl #5 and X-Men: Trial of Magneto #4.

There’s a new trailer out for the upcoming Peacemaker TV show on HBO Max and this whole thing looks like a hoot and a half! I loved The Suicide Squad movie this past summer, and I definitely look forward to more of that same wildness on my TV screen.
I am always down for fun new comic book content on TV. I have loved all of Marvel’s Disny+ shows — and am currently loving Hawkeye — so if DC wants to give it a try of taking big screen characters and actors and putting them into fun TV shows, I am all for it! Give me more content! Give me more things to watch!
Peacemaker arrives for our viewing pleasure on Jan. 13.

OK Matrix Resurrections, You Have My Attention
A new short trailer for The Matrix Resurrections came out yesterday and it has for sure caught my attention. Up until this trailer, I’ve been assuming that Resurrections will be like The Force Awakens, like some kind of simple recreation of the first Matrix movie. But maybe that’s the point…
One take away from this trailer might be that the studio and filmmakers are so crass that they want people to believe this is a recreation of the first film, and that’s why they should watch it. Resurrections will be safe and simple.
But my take away from this trailer is that Resurrections has something deeper and cooler going on, and the resemblance to the first film is an intentional swerve. Maybe it’s going to take a meta approach to the very idea of that resemblance and really blow our minds. So I’m going to keep my hopes up for this second interpretation!
The Matrix Resurrections comes to theaters on Dec. 22.
