6 Female Villains for the Marvel Cinematic Universe

The world and the Marvel Cinematic Universe need more awesome female super-villains. We’ve had a couple so far, but who else is waiting in the wings? Who are some awesome lady villains that Marvel can put into their movies and TV shows? There are a ton of such characters available in the comics, and I’ve definitely got some favorites to mention. I’m talking really villainous roles, characters who aren’t going to switch to the good guys in the long run.

That’s definitely a helmet

As we all know, Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter is a horrible, sexist person who put his foot down about women getting any sort of leading role, be it hero or villain. He famously made them change the villain of Iron Man 3 to not be Maya Hansen, even though she would have been a great villain. Thankfully, Perlmutter is gone, and Marvel women can let their evil flags fly! We’ve already had Hela, Ghost, Agatha Harkness, Ravonna Renslayer and gender-flipped Flag Smasher and Taskmaster, but that list is way too small. Who are some other options?

Join me after the jump for six of Marvel’s best choices for new female villains for the MCU!

Cuphead is Getting a Cartoon!

I’ve never played the Cuphead video game. It had its day a while back, but I’m not into playing punishing video games. Just not my cup of tea. But the look the game has inspired Netflix to order up a whole season of cartoon shenanigans!

I’m always looking for new things to watch, so I’ll probably give this a shot. A crazy parody of classic, early 1900s animation? I am totally down for that madness.

The Cuphead Show comes to Netflix on Feb. 18.

I Dunno; Hawkeye Honest Trailer

It’s Monday. It’s January. It’s not due to get above freezing for at least another week. And the grocery store is pretty much all out of meat. But at least I’ve got a nice streak going on Wordle. And I left a bag of Cheetos at the office, so that’s something to look forward to. But beyond that, the most any of us can enjoy about today is this random Honest Trailer for the Hawkeye TV show.

By all means, the good people at Screen Junkies should keep churning out Honest Trailers. I think I’ve been sharing them on this blog since the day I started, so they’ve been doing it forever. And they’re pretty funny. Have I mostly moved on from this sort of thing? Yeah. But I’m more worried about what I’m going to eat for the next couple of weeks with these supply chain shortages.

But yeah, let’s giggle a bit at Hawkeye. I liked that show.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/22/22

Greetings good readers and welcome to another batch of random comic book reviews from this random guy on the internet. Maybe you’ll agree with me, maybe you won’t, I guess we’re about to find out. I’ve got oodles of comics this week, everything from Power Rangers to Nightwing to We Have Demons!

Comic Book of the Week goes to She-Hulk #1 because I want more people to know about and read this comic. Rainbow Rowell returns to Marvel Comics after Runaways came to an end, and I can’t wait to see what she does with the Shulkster! This first issue is off to a good start.

A house would be nice

Meanwhile, I finished The Expanse at long last and loved the ending. Obviously I wish this show could continue indefinitely, but it came to a satisfying conclusion. I highly recommend watching The Expanse. Elsewhere in pop culture, I’m currently rereading X-Statix after the second omnibus volume came out. It’s fun, and still holds up. And I’m playing Gears of War: Tactics, which is Gears of War meets XCOM. Also fun. I’m enjoying my various medias these days.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #86, Nightwing #88, Power Rangers #15, She-Hulk #1, Strange Academy #15, Superman: Son of Kal-El #7 and We Have Demons #3.

LEGO Star Wars is Doing a Whole Video Game Thing

I played the heck out of the original LEGO Star Wars video game back in the day. That was good stuff. And now the whole thing has come full circle, bigger and better than ever, with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. All nine movies. Over 300 playable characters. Just about everything one could want.

I don’t know if I will play this game. I loved the original, and I love the idea of these games, but I find that I rarely actually get attached to playing a LEGO game. I’ve tried a couple in the recent past, but I kept losing interest. I don’t know why. So I do not know if I’ll be playing The Skywalker Saga when it comes out. We’ll see what else I’ve got going on on April 5.
