The Dinosaurs Are Everywhere Now in Jurassic World: Dominion
I’m not much of a fan of the Jurassic World series. It’s lost all the majesty of the original Jurassic Park and is now just a generic action film with dinosaurs. But a trilogy is a trilogy, so we’re going to get Jurassic World: Dominion later this year. And while the Jeff Goldblum cameo in the last film was rather small and weak, Dominion looks to be making up for past mistakes.
It doesn’t matter to me that Alan Grant, Ellie Sadler and Ian Malcolm are coming back for Jurassic World: Dominion. It means nothing. What are they going to add to a world conquered by dinosaurs? Just some simple fan service for a property I’m not much of a fan of.
Still, it’s happening, and I’ll probably go watch it! Jurassic World: Dominion comes to theaters on June 10.

Lightyear: I Love the Song, I Hate the Cat
A new, full trailer has come out for Lightyear, the Buzz Lightyear origin movie starring Chris Evans. I liked the teaser trailer better, and I definitely still love the haunting use of David Bowie’s “Starman”. But now I really, really hate the robotic cat.
This has become a real pet peeve of mine in animated movies: useless animal sidekicks. It’s definitely going to spawn a List of Six in a couple of weeks. Sometimes you get an animal sidekick like Mushu, who actually participates in the story. Other times you get the chicken from Moana. That stupid chicken. And now we’ve got this robo-cat. We don’t yet know his role in the story of Lightyear, but my Spidey Sense is tingling that this is not good.
We’ll find out on June 17 when Lightyear comes to…theaters? It’s a Pixar movie, so Disney might just dump it on Disney+ again. We shall see!

The 6 Toughest Tiger Superheroes
Once upon a time, when I was a young boy, I picked the Cincinnati Bengals as my favorite football team. I chose them because they have the coolest helmets in the NFL, and that is a hill I will die on to this day. Of course, I have zero interest in American football and don’t actually follow the game. But now the Bengals are in the Super Bowl for the first time in more than 30 years! All my decades of general indifference have come to fruition and I can embrace my love of these tiger-striped linebackers.
And the best way to celebrate the Bengals being in the Super Bowl is a comic book List of Six! I’ve done plenty of lists about animal superheroes in the past, from lions to frogs to pigs to dogs to more. It’s a fun little game. And now I get to play it with a purpose! The Cincinnati Bengals are just plain cool. Orange with black tiger stripes? Get outta town! That’s a great design no matter how you swing it. And Some pretty great superheroes and villains have adopted the guise of the tiger over the years.

It’s a good day, my friends. Just yesterday I was talking about how I enjoy spotting my favorite comic book characters when they randomly show up. And it’s happened again! In the best possible way! If you’re subscribed to Marvel Unlimited, you’ve had access to some Marvel web comics, including an X-Men book. And as if Marvel was reading my mind, this week’s issue kicks off a new story starring a friendly reunion between Multiple Man and Strong Guy!
Even better, the whole thing is written and drawn by creator Jason Loo. Remember him? He’s the incredible fan who created his own Madrox fan comic and got discovered by Marvel honchos on Twitter and was brought on to do real Marvel work for the recent X-Corp comic.
I won’t spoil what happens in this issue — available now — but it features a real, awesome reunion between Jamie and Guido that recognizes that the two are best pals. I think that’s the first time we’ve seen such a thing in years! There’s also some quality time with wife, Layla Miller, and their son, along with some X-Corp cameos. And the comic will continue!
Jason Loo is the Multiple Man fan in all of us, and he’s getting to actually take the reigns on the character. This is a pretty good dream come true.

Rhapsody Will Not Be Forgotten
So here’s a thing about this blog: some of it is just going to be me fanboying over my favorite comic book characters. Every character is somebody’s favorite. And I, particularly, love a lot of random, obscure characters. And when you love random, obscure characters, there’s a sort of Where’s Waldo aspect to reading comics. Sometimes your favorite character is Wolverine, and he’s in everything. Sometimes your favorite character is Multiple Man, and he only shows up once in a blue moon.
Which brings us to Rhapsody, a mutant who recently reappeared after nearly 30 years. I wrote about her extensively before, to get you up to speed. Basically, she was a one-off character back in the early 90s X-Factor, but those were comics that meant a lot to me, so she became an obscure favorite. Then, surprise surprise, she reappeared at the Hellfire Gala last year! I was super pleased!
And it seems Marvel isn’t going to forget her, because Rhapsody made a quick, one-panel appearance in the first issue of the new Sabretooth comic last week!
Will she be around for good? Will she be a reoccurring character in Sabretooth? I have no idea. Like I said, this is now a game of Where’s Waldo. She’s back in the world, she’s confirmed living on Krakoa, people like music.
I might have to start a Rhapsody Watch, even if I’m the only person who cares.
