Just Something Nice Today

So it snowed for the first time this season last night. That’s fine. Tomorrow is Election Day in America. Ugh. And I’ve got a busy, but fun, day at work today. And not much else to share on this nice little blog. So how about this nice little cover of the X-Men animated series theme song on 8 cellos?

Cellist Samara Ginsberg has been doing a lot of cello covers of a bunch of famous songs. And that sounds like a really good thing to do on YouTube. So more power to her! Exactly the sort of innocuous, fun thing we need right now.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/31/20

Happy Halloween! What a nice coincidence that the holiday falls on the day I’m reviewing comics. Of course, I’m not reviewing any spooky comics, so the point is moot. But X of Swords keeps getting worse, so that’s something.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Runaways #32 because it’s so nice to have this comic back! And it’s a pretty cute issue.

All of comics!

Meanwhile, I read through The Last Ronin, the futuristic Ninja Turtles story, and it was fun. I’ve been collecting the large, hardcover volumes of the IDWI TMNT series but I haven’t started reading them yet. I think I just like collecting them. So I’m not fully up on my Turtles comic lore. But this first issue is cool…though a bit sparse, in my opinion. This might be better read in the trade.

Also, first new episode of The Mandalorian was great!

Comic Reviews: Drakkon: New Dawn #4, Legion of Super-Heroes #10, Runaways #32, Shang-Chi #2, Strange Academy #4 and X of Swords: Stasis #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/24/20

It’s one of those weeks folks, where everything seems to be going wrong. Life stinks and there’s no cure. Ugh. But at least I read some quality comics, like Iron Man, Batman, Spider-Woman and yet a couple more X of Swords comics.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the final issue of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for an exciting introduction to the new Green Ranger…even if they’re going to keep his identity a secret for now.

He has arrived!

Meanwhile, I just finished up the final season of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts last night and it was fun. Quality show overall. Not too heavy, mostly funny and an all around good time. I highly recommend Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts on Netflix.

Comic Reviews: Batman #101, Iron Man #2, Juggernaut #2, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #55, Spider-Woman #5, Excalibur #13 and X-Men #13.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reivews – 10/17/20

Comics! They’re still coming out! The world keeps spinning! And my fingers are still working. So let’s read some comics and write some reviews! Like some of my DC favorites and then a whole bunch of new X of Swords issues.

Comic Book of the Week goes to New Mutants #13, of all things. Despite my general exhaustion with X of Swords, I liked the character focus of this issue.

Cypher’s time to shine!

Meanwhile, I finished off the second season of The Boys and I loved it! Great show, fun adaptation; I’m definitely enjoying The Boys and don’t mind the changes from comic to show. It’s a fun adventure.

Comic Reviews: The Green Lantern: Season Two #8, Strange Adventures #6, Hellions #5, New Mutants #13 and Cable #5.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/10/20

Welcome, everyone, to my second work vacation of the year! Since I didn’t take any time off while working from home during quarantine, I’ve got all my vacation time saved up for the final few months of the year. Not that I plan on doing anything interesting with my time. Reading a bunch of X of Swords comics, apparently.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #100 for a big, exciting Batman adventure. Gotta love some of those.

If only DC would do this to the Joker for real

Meanwhile, holy cow, have you been watching Star Trek: Lower Decks? I know it’s only available on CBS All Access, and only in the U.S., but jeez louise is it good! The season finale is insane! Hopefully they make it available on another service more accessible to the public. Harley Quinn didn’t really take off until it went to HBO Max!

Comic Book Reviews: Batman #100, Far Sector #8, Thor #8, Wolverine #6, X-Force #13 and Marauders #13.
