Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/30/16

Wowzers, what a week! Let me share with you just how insane this week was for me. First of all, it was the final week of my Kickstarter for Gamer Girl & Vixen, and we hit our fundraising goal on Wednesday! Hooray! Second of all, this was also the week I was moving into a new apartment, and that took several days. So there’s some exhaustion. And then this just happened to be the most insane week for comics in a long time!

Not only did a new issue of Teen Titans come out, which I always give a big review. But this week saw new issues of Batman, Batgirl, Amazing Spider-Man, All-New Wolverine, Saga, Doctor Strange, Ms. Marvel, Patsy Walker, Grayson, We Are Robin, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Harley Quinn, Faith, and so many more! This would have been a wonderful week of reading, if I wasn’t so exhausted from moving and finishing up a Kickstarter.

Fortunately, I did get to a couple of quality comics this week, so at least there’s that. This includes Comic Book of the Week for Ms. Marvel #6, for it’s lovely story of growing up superhero.

Classic Kamala!

Also, as a double reminder, my Kickstarter has blown past its fundraising goal this week! So the Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel is definitely getting made! If you want to snag a copy, head over to the Kickstarter! The campaign ends Monday morning.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #7, Amazing Spider-Man #11, Batman #51, Doctor Strange #7, Ms. Marvel #6 and Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat #5.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/16/16

Anybody else doing everything they can to avoid reading too many reviews for Captain America: Civil War? I can’t believe they’re out so early! They’re all so good that I just want to absorb as much as I can! But at the same time, I don’t want to spoil anything in the movie. It’s bad enough I’ve watched a few of the clips. Aargh! Why isn’t it May yet?

Until then, why not enough some comics? New issues of Amazing Spider-Man and Starfire grace our presence this week, as well as the launch of the Harley Quinn spin-off staring her Gang A’Harleys!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Silver Surfer #3. It’s been awhile since we saw an issue of this amazing series, but the wait was worth it!

Damn right you do!

And as always, don’t forget to check out my Kickstarter for the full Gamer Girl & Vixen graphic novel! We’re at the halfway point this weekend, so now’s the time to really gear up and hit the goal by the end!

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #10, Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys #1, Silver Surfer #3 and Starfire #11.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/9/16

Welcome to another installment of Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews! We’re right on the verge of a great comic book movie season, and we’re right in the middle of some great comic books overall. I am very pleased with the industry these days, and I love comics like Batgirl, Spider-Man and Invincible Iron Man.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #2 for tapping into the sheer, silly nostalgia inside of me. Green Ranger is the best Ranger.

It’s like a dream come true

Speaking of good comics, don’t forget to check out my own series, Gamer Girl & Vixen! Order your copy and support us on Kickstarter!

Comic Reviews: Batgirl #50, Black Panther #1, Invincible Iron Man #8, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #2, and Spider-Man #3.

Spider-Man Has Arrived in the New Captain America: Civil War Trailer!

And the trailer itself is pretty awesome too!

I was personally hoping that Marvel wouldn’t reveal the new Spider-Man ahead of Captain America: Civil War, but they had to do something to take attention away from the Batman Battle movie. And this is a fun way to do it! The trailer itself is all about the movie, laying out the stakes as plainly and as cleanly as possible. Nobody should be confused as to what this ‘civil war’ is about. Then throwing Spider-Man into a post-trailer teaser is just a neat little way. Marvel knows the baggage that a movie Spider-Man has, and hopefully this will be the start of cleaning him up.

Movie looks great! Bring it on, already!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/5/16

I don’t know about you, but this was a pretty busy week for me. Work work work work work work work. I tells ya! I was able to get in a full-sized review of the first issue of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, which was pretty fun. But this week’s Henchie Bits are a little on the light side What can I say, I was morphed out.

But hey, any week with new issues of Batgirl and Iron Man is a good enough week for me! We’ve also got the first issue of Mark Waid and Chris Samnee’s Black Widow. I hope to stick with the title this time.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the second issue of Spider-Man. I do have a soft spot for Miles Morales, and this issue surprised me in a few interesting ways.

Too soon, Bendis

If only Donald Glover was still young enough to be cast as Spider-Man.

Comic Reviews: Batgirl #49, Black Widow #1, Invincible Iron Man #7 and Spider-Man #2.
