6 Thoughts on Venom: Let There Be Carnage

We are now living in a world where the Venom sequel might just top most of the major Marvel Studios movie releases this year. Venom: Let There Be Carnage exploded at the opening weekend box office, earning more than $90 million, beating the three day opening weekend totals of both Black Widow and Shang-Chi. Granted, these are pandemic numbers, but still! Venom 2 is apparently a popular movie!

Movie Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good

I saw Venom: Let There Be Carnage opening night, because that’s how I roll with most superhero movies. I was a lukewarm fan of the first film, finding it to be a rather dumb affair, held aloft solely by the insane fun of Tom Hardy’s dual lead performances. The sequel brings all of that back, while also finally bringing Carnage into a live action movie. Fans have been waiting for Carnage for a very long time. Did he live up to the hype?

Join me after the jump for my thoughts and review of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the movie. And feel free to share your own thoughts on the film in the comments!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/2/21

My vacation is almost over and I accomplished not much of anything. Such is my usual style of vacation. Thankfully, it’s only my first vacation of the year. I’ve got a couple more weeks to burn. And thankfully, there were some good comics, like the second issue of Darkhawk and the start of X-Men: Inferno!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman: Son of Kal-El #3 for an issue that has everything, from great family dynamic stuff to cool action stuff.

Sometimes the Green Mile feels so long…

Meanwhile, I saw Venom: Let There Be Carnage and it was all sorts of things. Better than the first one, for sure. A great movie? Not really. But a lot of it has me excited for what comes next, and that’s no small thing. I’ll post my review and thoughts on Venom 2 on Wednesday.

Comic Reviews: Darkhawk #2, Inferno #1, Superman: Son of Kal-El #3, S.W.O.R.D. #8 and Thor #17.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/25/21

Happy vacation, everybody! Vacation for me, that is. I’m finally taking a week off from work for the first time this year, and oh man, I needed it. I need a week to just relax and do not much of anything. Thankfully, I’ve got the likes of Batman, X-Men and X-Corp to kick it off.

Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men: Onslaught Revelation for a truly excellent and exciting end to this chapter of the story. I have loved Way of X, more so than I thought I would, and the first part of Sy Spurrier’s X-Men epic has come to an exciting end!

Behold his power and weep

Meanwhile, I don’t have much planned for my vacation. Can’t exactly travel anywhere. I’ll go visit my parents, I’ve got a dentist’s appointment, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage will come out at the end of the week. That should be fun. Mostly I’ll just relax and spend some more time playing No Man’s Sky. It’s also pretty fun!

Comic Reviews: Batman #113, Nightwing #84, X-Corp #5, X-Men #3 and X-Men: Onslaught Revelation #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/18/21

Welcome to another pile of comic book reviews! Not too many this week, because sometimes I’m feeling lazy and just want to read the comics I want to read instead of a larger smattering. Such is this week’s mood.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Power Rangers #11 for turning the action and reveals up to 11 and kicking the story forward right when it needs it!

The Omega Megazord is gonna be a huge reveal someday

Meanwhile, I’ve been playing No Man’s Sky lately and it’s pretty fun. I never attempted to play it back when it first came out and was not part of the hype. But it was on sale on my birthday and that seemed like a good thing for to try. Should be a fun, lazy game of space exploration.

Comic Reviews: Power Rangers #11, Superman and the Authority #3 and X-Men: The Trial of Magneto #2.

Oh what a week, what a week. Where does one even begin? How about by just diving into some comic reviews, like Batman and a new Black Manta series? Sounds good to me!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #11 because this comic can do no wrong. Holy cow is this good drama and good storytelling!

Ah, so you’ve been reading Mighty Morphin

Meanwhile, I did finally get around to watch Centaurworld on Netflix. That show was a hoot and a half! Not much else going on with me right now. I’m playing some old video games and trying to find some new, interesting shows to watch. Just livin’ that 2021 lifestyle…

Comic Reviews: Batman #112, Black Manta #1, Champions #9 and Mighty Morphin #11.
