6 Things I Want to See in a New Superman Movie

Word has it that there’s a new Superman movie coming from J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates. Word also has it that it’ll star a Black Superman. All of that sounds fine by me. I didn’t care for Man of Steel and I’m more than ready to move on to a new Superman movie. Once again, Warner Bros., DC and Hollywood will have a chance to make a modern Superman movie. I wish them all the luck in the world.

I am ready for alternate Supermen

So what would I like to see in a new, modern Superman movie? I have opinions. Of course I do! The movie starring a Black Superman already fulfills one of them. But considering all I know about the world of Superman, surely I have some other thoughts. Villains. Status quos. Other characters? All that good stuff! So let’s have it! Join me after the jump for things I’d like from a new Superman movie.

A Big Pile of Movie Trailers!

A bunch of movie trailers have been coming out over the past few weeks that I simply haven’t gotten around to posting. That’s on me. Let’s not make it a thing. It eventually reached a point where I decided it would be more fun to pile them together for your amusement!

First up is Cruella, starring Emma Stone. It’s Disney’s origin story for Cruella de Vil, because that’s how they’re doing live action this time (also because 101 Dalmatians had a live action movie decades ago). This one looks pretty OK.

I’m not the first person to point out that it looks like Cruella de Vil by way of the recent Joker movie, but with a Disney spin. That’s probably exactly what we’re going to get. Hopefully Emma Stone had fun with this one.

Next up is Army of the Dead by Zack Snyder. He reignited the zombie craze years ago with his remake of Dawn of the Dead, and I guess he decided to go back to zombies. Good for him!

This one looks like it could be fun. Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead was enjoyable. Perhaps giving him something other than DC superheroes will get him back to making enjoyable movies.

Lastly is the teaser trailer for Luca, the next Pixar film. This one took me by surprise because I knew nothing about the film before watching the trailer.

Here’s hoping for the best! I haven’t particularly been enthralled by any recent Pixar movies, but I’m always open to the idea of Pixar recapturing the magic of their old days. I’ll get my hopes up again. It’s the story of my life.

6 Characters I Want to See in the Mortal Kombat Movie

The day will soon be upon us when we have a new live action Mortal Kombat movie to enjoy. The movie has been pretty quiet — until last week, when the first trailer dropped and blew all of our minds! What a great trailer! The Mortal Kombat movie looks pretty damn good!

If they’re on the poster, why aren’t they the stars of the movie?

Even more exciting about the trailer was the number of character cameos sprinkled throughout. We knew the likes of Liu Kang, Sub-Zero and Raiden were going to be in the movie — along with an original character named Cole, for some reason — but we saw glimpses of Reptile, Goro, Nitara and more! How exciting! I love the whole roster of Mortal Kombat characters. It was a geeky obsession of mine when I was a kid. So if this movie does indeed feature a ton of character cameos, I have a few suggestions.

Join me after the jump for the Mortal Kombat characters I really, really, really want to see show up in the new movie!

How Do Civilians Know About Marvel Movie Events?

I’ve seen this concern pop up a lot during WandaVision discussions and I think I have a pretty solid explanation. How did Jimmy Woo and Monica Rambeau know about Wanda and Captain Marvel fighting Thanos from Avengers: Endgame? How does Dr. Darcy Lewis know so much about the Vision’s history, from him originating as Jarvis to his two deaths at the end of Avengers: Infinity War?

It’s simple: Captain America told them.

Would he lie to you?

I don’t mean directly. Captain America didn’t sit down Jimmy, Monica and Darcy to explain the finer details.

I’m saying that the Avengers, as an organization, with Captain America in a major leadership position, likely believed in full transparency when it came to both team members and major events. Couple that with real world of examples of both major news media operations and just people on the internet who go really in depth into this stuff. There’s going to be a lot of coverage of major superhero events, and the superheroes themselves are not operating in secret. The Avengers are specifically separate from S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain America was not a big fan of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secrecy to begin with.

So I think it’s perfectly reasonable that ordinary people are going to know both minor and major details about superhero events.

Join me after the jump for some scenes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that help prove my point! I’m not just pulling my argument out of thing air here!

The New Mortal Kombat Move is Just Going For It!

At long last, the first trailer for the new live action Mortal Kombat movie has arrived. And jeez louise, people, this movie is just going for it! They’re not being the least bit subtle. Just live action Mortal Kombat in all its glory!

I’m sharing the trailer here on my blog, but it’s a red band, so you may need to just click the link through to YouTube to watch. It’s definitely worth the trouble!

I don’t even know where to begin with this trailer! We saw a bunch of posters for characters yesterday, but clearly the movie is going to be chockful of Mortal Kombat characters. We saw Goro, we saw Reptile, and I think we saw my boy Smoke at one point! And that’s not mentioning all the main characters, like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Liu Kang, Jax and a billion others! Again, this movie is just going for it!

Digital effects simply weren’t up to snuff back when the first movie came out. Perhaps now we’re ready!

Mortal Kombat comes to theaters and/or HBO Max on April 16!
