How Iron Man 3 Should Have Ended

They’re at it again! And this one is legitimately funny.

The How It Should Have Ended people are getting better and better. They’re finally back to showing us a legitimate alternate ending, which one would think was the whole point. These are always good for a chuckle.

Glenn Close as Nova!?!

In what has to be the weirdest casting news out of Marvel ever, frequent Academy Award-nominee Glenn Close has been cast as the leader of the Nova Corps in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s nice to know that someone is reading my blog, but they definitely took things to a whole new level.

Seriously, Glenn Close…

Will be playing one of these guys…

Nova Corps

The news comes from Bleedingcool.com, who said actors like Hugh Laurie, Ken Watanabe and Alan Rickman were in the running for the role. So clearly Marvel and director James Gunn had a certain type in mind. Does Close fit that type? Most definitely. Will she be great in the role? I really, really think so. This could be the brilliant sort of casting that really makes the movie.

For those who don’t know, the Nova Corps are a big, intergalactic police force in the Marvel Universe. Two human members of the Nova Corps, Ritchie Ryder and Sam Alexander, have been the stars of their own comic books. But neither one has so far been cast, that we know of. In the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, I’m going to assume that the Nova Corps represent the big, stuffy police department while the Guardians are the scrappy, devil-may-care A-Team operating outside the law. Sounds like a good dynamic to me.

Oh, also, John C. Reilly is in talks to play another member of the Nova Corps. Neat!

The Green Lantern Movie Kinda Really Stunk

I spent the morning praising Green Lantern, so how about we spend the afternoon taking the piss out of him?

I’m still amazed that we live in a world with an actual, live action Green Lantern movie. Before making Wonder Woman or the Flash, much more popular and simpler characters, Hollywood gave us a Green Lantern film. And as much as I may praise Geoff Johns, not even his collaboration could steer Green Lantern the movie towards being a success. Maybe the problem is that the movie didn’t bother actually using the Green Lantern stories that made the character so popular. Seriously, even with Johns consulting on set, the filmmakers went ahead and changed most of his big ideas for no particular reason. Why would they do that? What possible gain did they foresee?

Now we’ll never get that sequel. At least the gang at CinemaSins can have some fun with it.

I Should Be Chastised For Forgetting to Post This New The World’s End Trailer

Not that I have any oversight on my blog, or have any other expectations about what I post, but I really think I should have posted this new trailer for The World’s End sooner. The problem was that it debuted on Yahoo and I’m just not savvy enough to post videos that aren’t Youtube. I might also be a teensy bit lazy.

It’s another awesome trailer for what I’m sure will be an awesome movie. And I know I have awesome people reading my blog, so let us all share in just how awesome this movie season is going to be. Rock on.

New Animated DC Movie Stars the Flash

The Flashpoint Paradox has been known about for awhile, but I haven’t mentioned it. I’ve been falling behind on my DC Animation for some reason. I never got around to reviewing Dark Knight Returns Part 2, and I haven’t even seen Superman Unbound yet. I don’t know what’s wrong with me…but maybe this new film will snap me out of this funk.

I’m exited to see a movie that doesn’t star either Batman or Superman (mostly). Word has it that after the poor showings of the animated Green Lantern and Wonder Woman movies, that Warner Bros. would only allow DC to do animated movies starring either Superman or Batman. Makes sense, I guess, even though I still hold Wonder Woman up as the best animated movie the studio has put out. So it’s refreshing to see the Flash star so prominently in this new film.

I’m also hoping they use this film to start making movies about the New 52 universe. It seems silly that the DC comic book universe and the DC animated universe are not the same thing. What better way to promote the New 52 comics than by animating them? It’s a no-brainer!
