Hobbit Sequel Trailer Hits the Web! The Desolation of Smaug!
Enough video game trailers already, let’s check out The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug! Also, do we really need the word ‘the’ to appear twice? Kind of awkward. Just sayin’.
I’m happy to at least report that this film will have infinity more dragons than the last movie, so that’s a plus. The trailer seems pretty alright to me. Nothing too bone-chillingly cool, but generally energized. Apparently the dwarves are going to ride down a river in barrels? That looks like fun. And Legolas shows up for no discernible reason.
I imagine I’m going to enjoy this movie equally to how much I enjoyed the first Hobbit, which is good enough for me.
It’s a Superman Thing

Oh Right, That New Superman Movie Comes Out Next Week
With only one week to go before Man of Steel hits theaters, the good people at Nokia have released one final trailer – and it’s pretty action-packed! I think we’re going to see Chitauri-level destruction from just the battle of Superman vs. Zod.
I have been pretty damn pleased with the state of big summer movies so far this year. I loved both Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness, so Man of Steel has a lot to live up to. Fortunately, every trailer I’ve seen so far has been fantastic, so I’m not worried. I would love nothing more than for Man of Steel to be a hit and lead on to a DC Movieverse. I’d even be willing to let the Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern movie be part of that universe as long as Man of Steel is awesome.
Picking on Superman Returns Will Make Me Feel Better
Nothing better to make up for a day of intense day job than picking on Superman Returns. That movie was just terrible.
Sometimes I think my day job might be more exciting for you guys to read about than my random comic book ramblings. I’m a police reporter for a city newspaper, and today we had a double homicide followed by a manhunt for the killer, who was still on foot in the neighborhood. Exciting times. But still, suck it, Superman Returns!

Newish Kick-Ass 2 Trailer
There’s a little bit in the way of new footage, and that’s good enough for me. Though hopefully the entire movie won’t have those foreign language subtitles. That would be weird, amiright? I’m still very much excited for Kick-Ass 2. The superheroics look cool, and there’s definitely more to be seen in the epic final battle between Kick-Ass and the Mother(swear word)er. I enjoyed Kick-Ass’s heroic journey in the first film, and I know the source material put him off as more of a loser than the films, but seeing him succeed and be a hero is much more rewarding to me. But then I’m just a big ole softie.
