Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/7/21

This is an interesting week in comics because I only have two to read and review! I’ve started to cut back on how many comics I read a week because sometimes I just don’t want to read everything on my plate, you know? I lost interest in the new Green Lantern series when it blew up the status quo, and I just wasn’t hooked on Crush and Lobo. But that’s perfectly fine when we’ve got new issues of Batman and X-Men!

Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men #2 for another big screen comic book story. I like the look and feel of this comic, and I hope they can maintain and transition into more long-form enjoyment.

Rhino must be really good at cards

Meanwhile, I loved The Suicide Squad movie and will have my thoughts/review on Wednesday! I’m also loving the New Pokemon Snap free DLC and, oddly enough, I got back into playing Diablo 3 to try out some things I left undone years ago. That’s been neat.

Comic Reviews: Batman #111 and X-Men #2.

Behold Some Honest Trailers!

I’m feeling pretty lazy on this random Thursday. Got a lot to do today for work and not much else to talk about for blog. So how about some Honest Trailers to randomly watch while the world passes us by?

Like the Honest Trailer for Black Widow.

Or the Honest Trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Such is the world we are living in that such idle joys are available to watch. They almost seem quaint at this point. I’m pretty sure everybody’s moved over to Pitch Meeting anyway.

Some Shang-Chi Videos For This Idle Tuesday

It’s an idle Tuesday with not a lot going on for me to post about. Granted, I’m sure I could do some digging and find something to write about. But instead I’m just going to share some fun Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings videos from last week! Like a new quickie trailer.

And a featurette that just explores the movie a bit more.

Still very excited about this movie. Still very worried that the resurgence of the virus might ruin everything. We shall see! But Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings comes out on Sept. 3. It’s only a month away!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/31/21

Welcome to the world of reviewing comics! Not too many reviews this week because I was really only in the mood to pick up comics I was actually interested in reading this week instead of expanding out to others I was meh about. So we’ve got the likes of SWORD and the new Superman: Son of Kal-El.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Beta Ray Bill #5 for a perfect ending to a perfect comic book. This whole adventure was phenomenal and the ending is pretty great.

You’ve never known such fury

Meanwhile, I watched and very much enjoyed Masters of the Universe: Revelation last weekend. People are complaining online, as they are wont to do, but I had a blast. And I am definitely an old school He-Man fan from back in the 80s. And then by this time next week, I’ll have seen The Suicide Squad! So that’s exciting!

Comic Reviews: Beta Ray Bill #5, Static: Season One #2, Superman: Son of Kal-El #1 and S.W.O.R.D. #7.

Hawkeye Show Coming in November!

Entertainment Weekly put out a nice article yesterday revealing that the Hawkeye TV show will come out on Disney+ on Nov. 24, just in time for families to get together and discuss the first episode on Thanksgiving! And check out this first official image.

That’s Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld as Clint Barton and Kate Bishop. We know various things about this show and all of them sound good. We’re going to get shades of the Trenchcoat Mafia. There’s rumors of some other characters showing up that I don’t want to spoil here. It’s basically sounding like a really solid show.

Hawkeye will be six episodes and that will take us through the end of the year. Likely that means Ms. Marvel will debut sometime in January, because Marvel doesn’t want to overlap shows. And all of that sounds good to me!
