Eh, I May Not Be Picking Up the X-Men Next Year After All
The new X-Men comics were announced earlier this year, but I kind of ignored them because I’m lazy. Some of them sound interesting, like the Iceman solo series, but the rest were luke warm. I’ve always been a huge X-Men fan…until this past year. I’m not sure what it is exactly, but I haven’t particularly cared about the X-Men since Secret Wars. It might have something to do with Cyclops, the best X-Man, losing his conflict with the rest of the team, but other than that, I don’t know.
So I thought I might give the new X-Men: Blue and X-Men: Gold a chance, but Marvel revealed the team rosters today, and I definitely don’t care about any of them.
X-Men: Blue will be the time-displaced younger X-Men. X-Men: Gold will be the current Extraordinary team, but swap out Young Jean Grey for Rachel Grey. And maybe add Kitty Pryde? So…not much is going to change.
If you’re liking these comics, by all means, I wish you well. The creative teams are solid — you can read more on IGN — but the teams and concepts just don’t interest me. This is just my personal opinion.
I don’t care about any of these individual characters. I’m done with the Young X-Men, and have been for awhile. They need to go back to their own time already. Old Man Logan is a really stupid idea. If you’re going to kill Wolverine, why immediately replace him with just an alternate version? Why not explore what the X-Men are like without Wolverine?
Maybe I’ll try some of the other new titles coming, but I can’t muster any interest in what I’m seeing here. If you’re excited, more power to you.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/26/16
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews might never be the same after this week. I didn’t see it coming, but I’ve been buzzing on this since new comics dropped on Wednesday. Sure we got some solid comics this week, like Detective Comics and Teen Titans, but this is the week where everything changes.
Harley Quinn #8 wins Comic Book of the Week for probably the single best issue of the entire run so far. And not just because it’s so damn fun. This is next level stuff. This is so good, I’m going to do something I’ve never done in my several years worth of comic reviews.
Maybe I’ll be setting a precedent that I can in no way sustain, but I don’t care. This is Comic Book of the Year material.

Also, the latest issue of Civil War II was released this week, and the Big Event continues to underwhelm. Not to mention the fact that most other Marvel comics have simply moved on already. And it doesn’t even come close to the magic that is Harley Quinn.

Kamala Khan LEGOs Are Coming!
Oh my gosh, you guys! They’re going to make Kamala Khan LEGOs! She’s gonna appear in a cool Captain America Jet LEGO set!
It’s probably not safe for her to hang off of supersonic jets
That’s just stellar. Looks like I have something new to get my hands on. Along with that Kamala Khan action figure due out next year. I’m excited to see Marvel putting her in more merchandise. Hopefully that Netflix show is coming soon, too.
And if you’re into Marvel LEGO sets, the new year will also feature Agent Coulson and his flying car, Lola. That set also includes Detroit Steel, a momentary Iron Man villain from Matt Fraction’s Invincible Iron Man run. I really enjoyed that comic, but this is a super weird choice.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/19/16
Oof. What a crummy week for comics. I don’t know if it’s just me, but this whole week was kind of a dud. And I even read some of my favorite comics! Squirrel Girl! Hellcat! Wolverine! I don’t know what happened, but everything just felt kind of…flat. They were all still pretty good, but there just seemed to be something missing. Some magic…
As such, I’m not even sure which comic to award Comic Book of the Week. I kind of want to just not give it to anybody. But I’m not ready to set that precedent, so I’m gonna give it to Infamous Iron Man #2 because it has the most potential.
It’s a good look for him
My actual reviews are going to be kind of light this week, because after reading a bunch of comics, I just didn’t feel like reviewing them. Plus sometimes I skip over storylines, like I’m currently doing with Patsy Walker and All-New Wolverine. Both are fine, but eh…also, the fill-in artist they got for All-New Wolverine was just bad. Like, make you question what Marvel was thinking bad.
Still, we got a handful of comics to check out this week.

My 6 Favorite Spider-Man Villains
I honestly think that Spider-Man has the best Rogues Gallery in comics. Batman may have the Joker and Catwoman, and the X-Men may have Magneto, but nobody does super-villains like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He’s got big bads like Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, but he’s also got a metric ton of medium to minor-sized foes who have been tussling with the wall-crawler for decades.
There’s just so many of them!
I’ve done a list of my favorite Batman villains previously, and this week I’m in the mood to explore some of Spidey’s better bad guys. A lot of them have been brought back from the dead in the pages of Clone Conspiracy, and we’ve finally had it confirmed that the Vulture will likely be the main villain in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie. So this is a pretty good time to take a look at some of my all-time favorite Spider-Man villains!
