6 Things I Want to See in a Venom Movie
Out of the blue, Sony announced a premiere date for their long-in-gestation Venom movie. They’ve even classified it as a ‘sci-fi/horror’ movie and plan to start production in the Fall. Maybe they’re actually going to go through with it, or maybe it’s all just smoke and mirrors to make Sony’s movie division look better for an upcoming sale. Whatever the case may be, it’s perfect for wild blog speculation!
I’m as much of a Venom fan as the next person. I love the living costume idea. I loved the Lethal Protector phase back in the 90s. Heck, I even love a bunch of the minor spin-off symbiotes. And considering Sony is now partnering with Marvel for their Spider-Man properties, I would be thrilled if this Venom movie is real and ties into Spider-Man: Homecoming!
So join me after the jump for my ideas on what we should see in a Venom movie! And I’d love to hear your own ideas in the comments!
Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer Full of Movie Stuff
I don’t know what it is yet — and it better not be superhero fatigue — but I remain merely whelmed when it comes to these Spider-Man: Homecoming trailers.
This looks great. There’s no denying that. I definitely like Tom Holland as Spider-Man. I like the stuff with Iron Man. I like the civilian stuff we’re seeing with Peter Parker at school. And I like the look of the Vulture here. Michael Keaton is going to be great, hopefully.
But just in general, overall, I’m just OK with the trailers we’ve seen so far. And OK is fine. I’m still going to see the movie opening night and probably love it — hopefully love it.
Heck, I loved both Amazing Spider-Man movies, so maybe I’m not one to talk…

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/25/17
Everything is backwards! The Iron Fist TV show came out last week, but the new Iron Fist comic comes out this week. The Power Rangers movie comes out this week, but the new Power Rangers comic came out last week! You’d think people would figure out better synergy.
Light week of reviews this week for reasons that will ever perplex me. Why do all my favorite comics come out in the same week? Still, we’ve got some greats, including Hulk, Detective Comics and the final issue of Prowler!
Comic Book of the Week goes to the final issue of Unworthy Thor because writer Jason Aaron is able to dig even deeper into a character he has so thoroughly mastered.
As for the stuff I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed the Iron Fist TV show, despite its obvious flaws. And loved the Power Rangers movie! It was great! Go see it this weekend!
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #953, Hulk #4, Iron Fist #1, Prowler #6 and Unworthy Thor #5.
6 Thoughts on the First Season of Iron Fist
As I do every weekend a new Marvel Netflix show comes out, I binge-watched the whole darn thing over the course of a couple days. I was born for binge-watching. Iron Fist is the last of the four main characters to get a solo show, building up to the united Defenders show airing in September. Marvel and Netflix have been hitting them out of the park this whole time, so how did Iron Fist hold up?
I liked it well enough, despite the harsh, negative reviews it’s been getting. It was an entertaining show. But Iron Fist suffers from a distinct lack of style or personality, which the other shows had in spades.
Season Rating: 5/10 – Alright
As for the race controversy, I agree that it would have been nice had Marvel cast an Asian actor to play Danny Rand. It would have been a nice step and could have added a lot to the show, while taking away nothing. But I’m not going to hold it against the show that Marvel decided to stick to the character’s source material. I’m going to judge the show on its own merits.
And with that in mind, join me after the jump for my review of Marvel’s Iron Fist TV show! Expect full SPOILERS, in case you haven’t finished the show yet.
Ms. Marvel Fan Film Makes for Exciting Monday
Found this pretty stellar Ms. Marvel fan film on io9 this weekend and wanted to share! I don’t share enough fan-made things and I’m hoping to fix that. So let’s start with this! It’s only 5 minutes long and damn good.
And let’s hope Marvel gets around to putting Kamala Khan into their movies or TV shows very soon. Major kudos to the folks at AnitaBeMEAnitaBeME for making this awesomeness happen. They nailed it!
