6 Potential Marvel Crossovers After the Success of Avengers vs. X-Men

So what the heck is Marvel going to do now that Avengers vs. X-Men is over? It sold incredibly well, and definitely got a lot of mileage out of the hero vs. hero concept. Marvel pretty much struck gold! No doubt they want to capture that same magic again. Because if the entertainment industry has taught us anything, it’s that if one thing is popular, then repeating that thing over and over again will be just as popular! How else do you think we get most movie sequels?

But what can Marvel do next after Avengers vs. X-Men?

The only AvX battle that really mattered

I don’t know about you, but I liked Avengers vs. X-Men. It was action-packed and had a lot of neat, complicated character growth, even if the whole thing was a little bloated. But it was big in scope, and really took the characters on an epic, world-saving adventure. If Marvel is hoping that lightning strikes twice in the same place, I have a few suggestions for them.

6 Improvements to Future Pokemon Games

I am a Pokemon video game fanatic. I can sing the theme song by heart. I can tell the difference between a Blitzle and a Basculin. I even bought my Nintendo DS on a whim simply because I’d heard that Pokemon Diamond/Pearl had come out and I no longer had a Game Boy to play it on. I wrote extensive Pokemon fan fiction in my youth. I am a 29-year-old male, and I do indeed plan to buy the new Pokemon Black/White 2 when it comes out this month. I absolutely love those games.

But man, oh man, Pokemon is in desperate need of a lot of improvements. Who knew such a powerful, long-lasting franchise was so broken?

No Bulbasaur or Charizard? Definitely broken

Join me after the jump for 6 improvements I want to see when the next generations of Pokemon games come out. This franchise shows no signs of slowing down, but it could use a lot of help along the way.

6 Fan-Made Characters That Were Embraced by the Real Creators

Do you remember Gary the Gray Power Ranger, the one who drove Titanus? Or what about Dustin the Animorph-Controller, who was both one of the good guys and one of the bad guys? Or Jedi Padawan Tasher Jaken? No? You don’t? Well don’t worry, you shouldn’t remember them. They never existed, not in the real shows, books or movies anyway. They are all my own fan fiction creations. All 100% my own ideas.

Creating my own original characters to fit into existing franchises has always been one of my favorite writing hobbies. I was even naive enough once upon a time to think I had a chance of making them a reality, if only I could speak with the writers or creators.

Now I know better. I was fooling myself.

But seriously, who’s driving this thing?

Yet even though it never worked out for me, the dream isn’t so far-fetched. Sometimes the creators and professionals really do listen to their fans. Sometimes that silly bit of fan fiction can take on a life of its own. Or maybe the fans will embrace a seemingly unimportant background character and adopt him or her like a mascot. It can happen. It has happened. I found six characters from TV, video games and movies that were – for the most part – created and embellished by the fans, only for the real creators to take notice and embrace these fan creations, bringing them into the real canon.

6 Things I Want To See In the Fantastic Four Reboot

A new, rebooted Fantastic Four movie is coming. Despite the fact that Fox so completely botched the franchise the first two times around, they’re not about to let go of a popular superhero movie license in an era when The Avengers made $1.5 Billion worldwide. That’s in dollars. So Fox will simply try again with a reboot. Because audiences and respect for the property just don’t matter. Movie making is a business, and a Fantastic Four movie has the potential to be good business.

Just like they thought Jessica Alba was going to be good business.

I’ll try to keep the Alba-bashing to a minimum

Now don’t get me wrong, a rebooted Fantastic Four has the potential to be great. I loved both X-Men: First Class and The Amazing Spider-Man, despite first assuming both would be terrible cash grabs. So with an upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, I’m going to try and keep an open mind. Will it be grim and gritty? Will it tie in to the old movies? What will the action figures be like? Well here are 6 things that I hope to see in the new Fantastic Four movie.

My 6 Childhood Heroes

I love being a child of the 80s. And consider this said with rose-colored glasses, but we had some awesome cartoons growing up. Granted, now as an adult I know they were all glorified toy commercials, but they were just amazing when I was a kid! Transformers, G.I. Joe, the Teenage Mutant Ninja  Turtles! There’s just no denying that my generation had it made.

And considering my life now, with the nerd blog, a love of comics and an action figure collection, I think it’s safe to say those early cartoons and TV shows definitely started me down this road of geekery.

Behold greatness!

So let’s play everyone’s favorite game from those old shows and ask: who’s your favorite? You all know you have a favorite. Who’s your favorite Thundercat? Who’s your favorite G.I. Joe? And the big one: who’s your favorite Ninja Turtle? Join me after the jump to see my answers to those life-defining questions from my childhood, and find out who my favorite pop culture heroes were when I was a little kid – and I’d love to hear yours in the comments.
