Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/20/20
Slowly but surely, the comic book industry is on its way back. For the second week in a row, I’ve got an actual pile of comics to read and review! That’s a lot of fun.
We’ve got The Green Lantern, Strange Adventures and a look into new BOOM! Studios comic Wynd by James Tynion IV. I saw it was available and thought I’d give it a try. But Comic Book of the Week goes to the final issue of Zeb Wells’ Ant-Man mini-series for a contented wrap-up.
Meanwhile, I’ve started burning through My Hero Academia. It’s a fun show, and just catchy enough that I keep watching one right after another instead of spacing them out for the purposes of making quarantine more bearable. What will I watch when I’m done?!
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #5, The Green Lantern: Season 2 #4, Strange Adventures #2 and Wynd #1.

With Hollywood shut down and no new movies coming out, what have our favorite movie parody YouTube channels been up to all this time? They won’t have any summer blockbusters to parody! They’re stuck making videos of movies from earlier this year.
Like How Birds of Prey Should Have Ended!
The HISHE people give it to ole college try with this one, and it’s actually pretty good. I salute them for that. Now they can do Bloodshot…and Sonic the Hedgehog…and…Portrait of a Lady on Fire? That was a good film.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/13/20
Holy cow! The time has come! For the first time in months, since the start of the pandemic lockdown, I finally have enough comics released to do a proper bunch of reviews! Not just one review. Not just two reviews. But five full comic book reviews this week! Huzzah!
Comic Book of the Week goes to an exciting issue of Legion of Super-Heroes, which brought a lot of action and a really fun ending. Also, Gold Lantern!
Meanwhile, I’ve been doing a lot of tpb reading recently. I read through almost all of the remaining Atomic Robo books. They were good, but not as great as Robo back at the beginning. I recently ordered the Ultimate Adventures tpb for cheap on Amazon. Remember that bit of weirdness? The Ultimate Batman and Robin from Marvel? It was still fun! Next I’m going to try Money Shot by Tim Seeley. I will always have a soft spot for Seeley because he was a backer of my first Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter!
Comic Reviews: Batman #92, Go Go Power Rangers #32, Legion of Super-Heroes #6, Lois Lane #11 and New Mutants #10.

Welcome back to another week of quarantine comics! New issues are trickling out here and there, and big changes are coming to everything. DC has cut ties with Diamond! What does that mean? I don’t know, I’m not a business guy. All I know is I enjoyed the comics I read this week.
I got two of my favorite comics: Force Works 2020 and Far Sector! I think Force Works is my favorite thing Matthew Rosenberg has written, and it was my favorite of the two this week.

Meanwhile, life goes on and the world continues to fall apart. I had a bit of a fever scare earlier this week after a doctor’s appointment, but I pulled through without any sickness. I’ve started playing Star Wars: Battlefront 2 because it was free on Playstation, and I just finished the third season of Killing Eve. Both are pretty good.
And, obviously, #BlackLivesMatter.
Comic Reviews: Far Sector #6 and Force Works 2020 #3.

I don’t care about the Snyder Cut of the Justice League movie. I can remember mildly enjoying all of Zack Snyder’s DC Comics movies in the theaters, but time has curdled that opinion and I don’t care for Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice or Justice League. So if we’re drawing lines in the sand, I am definitely not one of those fanboys who was desperate for Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League.
I thought the whole idea was as much a joke as this Honest Trailers video on the subject.
But earlier this week, Warner Bros. has announced that they will release the massive, 4-hour Snyder’s Cut of Justice League next year to attract viewers to their upcoming HBO Now streaming service. Gotta have something to offer people to get them to subscribe to yet another streaming service; and someone thought pandering to the fanboys was the right choice.
We’ll see. I’ll probably watch the Snyder Cut some how when it’s out, but I’m fairly certain it’s going to be as bad as the rest of Snyder’s DC output. Such is life.
