Behold the Sequel Shazam Family!
Shazam! 2: Fury of the Gods is currently filming, and director David F. Sanberg has decided he’s not going to let set leaks ruin all the big, cool reveals of the new movie. Specifically, the redesigned costumes of the Shazam family! Behold the crew!
Everyone looks good! The family was one of the best parts of the first film, so I’m glad to see they’re all coming back. And the costumes look dope. Here’s hoping the sequel is pretty fun!
Shame it won’t come out until June 2023. That’s two whole years away!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/19/21
Want to hear something funny? I missed my own 10-year blogging anniversary! It happened back in April and I had no idea because I don’t keep track of that sort of thing. I thought I was on year seven or something. But nope! Ten years of writing nonsense day in and day out. Thanks for reading!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #81 for another fine issue, but featuring a moment that truly stands out as something special and heroic.
Meanwhile, Heroes Reborn is building to a fitting conclusion! I’ve really enjoyed this Big Event, for once. Makes me wish I’d been reading Jason Aaron’s Avengers all along. I like his work. I forget why I stopped. The man did almost kill Stingray…
Comic Reviews: Nightwing #81, Static: Season One #1, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1, Planet-Size X-Men #1, New Mutants #21 and X-Corp #2.

It’s the week of weeks! What week is that? Why…this week, obviously. I’m getting more sleep now so I’m feeling better, so at least there’s that. Plenty of fun comics this week, from the finale to Far Sector to a couple more solid chapters of the Hellfire Gala!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin #8 because, as is usually the case, I love this comic and everything in it. Maybe I just love any iteration of the Green Power Ranger too much.
Meanwhile, the first episode of Loki has arrived and it was really fun! I like the set-up, I like the characters and actors, and I think this is going to be a really neat show. Likewise, Heroes Reborn remains really neat! Probably my favorite Big Event from Marvel in a while.
Comic Reviews: Detective Comics #1037, Far Sector #12, Mighty Morphin #8, Strange Academy #11, Excalibur #21, X-Men #21 and Children of the Atom #4.

What a week. What a week. What a week. For me, it was mostly marked by being dead tired. Up here in my neck of the woods, the heat has changed and I’m having trouble sleeping. So…ugh. Tired. But at least we had comics to read, like Batman and Crush & Lobo, which I decided to try out for Pride Month!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Marauders #21 for a nice introduction to the Hellfire Gala. It isn’t the highest rated single issue this week, but it had some really fun moments, kicked off a major event I’m very excited about, and it brought Rhapsody back to comics. That’s all win win for me!
Meanwhile, Heroes Reborn continues to be a ton of fun! It’s still this glorious Amalgam throwback and I am here for it. I also wrapped up Mare of Easttown on HBO and it was a really good detective/mystery show. Kept me guessing and it features a lot of great characters and character work. Definitely recommended.
Comic Reviews: Batman #109, Crush & Lobo #1, Marauders #21, Hellions #12 and X-Force #20.

The schadenfreude of DC’s failed cinematic universe will never not be funny. They tried, they took some big swings, they drummed up a lot of controversy, but in the end their epics plans fell flat on their face. Honestly, it’s just really funny.
Isn’t that right, Honest Trailers?
And so good times were had by all. A good chuckle to start our Tuesday. I’m still not entirely convinced that Flash movie is actually going to happen and come out. I think they’re even filming it now. And I do still rather like Aquaman and Shazam. So at least there’s that.
