Badman and Pete Holmes Are the Same Guy!
So you know that sketch about Wolverine from The Pete Holmes Show I posted earlier this week? Well apparently that Pete Holmes guy was the one behind all those brilliant Badman/Batman sketches for College Humor! Amazing! Now I really, really want to watch this guy’s show.
Here’s the latest Badman short, featuring a meeting between Badman and Superman!
This Pete Holmes guy is clearly the guy! If he keeps up the superhero humor, hopefully his show might have some legs!
Awesome Shot of Robin Costume Just Because I Love Robin
DC Comics’ January solicitations came out on Monday, and the best thing in the bunch was this cover to Batman and Robin Annual #2. Drawn by Doug Mahnke, it’s a brilliant shot of the New 52 version of Dick Grayson’s original Robin costume. I really like the design. It is, of course, much better than the original original Robin costume, with the short shots and pixie boots. And I just wanted to share this picture because this is a Robin-friendly blog.
Though if I may be allowed two minor nitpicks…I don’t like that the arms aren’t bare. He’s got black sleeves between his green shoulders and gloves, and I just think bare arms would look so much better. I also don’t like that this costume no longer has the classic yellow clasps on the chest. I always thought that was kind of iconic. They’re obviously still incorporated into the design, but I think the whole costume is just missing a little something without them.
But those are silly, worthless nitpicks. I love the costume, simple as that.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/5/13
Villains Month is over and not a moment too soon, as far as I’m concerned. The sales were apparently amazing for DC Comics, but the comics themselves were mostly garbage, from what I read. They were all over the place with their stories, and when it came to quality writing and art. I can honestly say I didn’t need to read any of those Villains Month issues. None of them really added much of anything to the ongoing story or the villains themselves…though there were a few nice issues.
And it seems I may owe DC an apology about Bizarro…maybe.
Fortunately for us, Forever Evil is back, and it continues to be entertaining. The New 52 as a whole is still a weird fit for a project like this, but I enjoyed the issue. I also enjoyed the continuing chapters of Battle of the Atom and Superior Foes of Spider-Man, which claims Comic Book of the Week. But the second issue of Mighty Avengers really seemed to grind my gears! Find out why in the review below!
Comic Reviews: All-New X-Men #17, Forever Evil #2, Green Lantern #24, MIghty Avengers #2 and Superior Foes of Spider-Man #4.
Warner Bros: This is how you make a Wonder Woman movie
Warner Snows: Bastards of DC franchise. They know nothing. That was my reaction when I saw this. Warner Brothers doesn’t know how to make a Wonder Woman film work?
This short from Rainfall Films is a good start:
6 Things I Want to See in a Flash TV Show
Following the success of the Green Arrow TV show – and really, who could have seen that coming? – Warner Bros. and The CW have announced hopes to make a spin-off about the Flash, the fastest man alive. They cast actor Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster only a few weeks ago, and he’s already filming a few episodes of Arrow Season 2 to build up his character and get him ready for his own pilot.
I’ve said it before: we are living in a Golden Age of superhero entertainment.
I consider myself a fan of the Flash, even though I’ve rarely ever read his comic. I love the idea of the character, I love the costume, I love the powers; the Flash can be a really cool guy. I think he’d make for a fantastic big screen movie, but who am I to argue with Warner Bros. decision to make a TV show instead? I really liked the first season of Arrow, so I have high hopes for the Flash – I also have some suggestions (or demands, depending on how you look at it).
Join me after the jump for 6 things I want in a Flash TV show.
