Tuesday Trailerpalooza

Last week, a metric ton of new trailers come out for everything from indie movies to big action movies to TV shows to video games. How am I supposed to keep up with them all? By dumping them on all in a single post on a Tuesday. Go me!

First up is the new movie Bottoms, which looks pretty fun as a silly, potentially raunchy high school teen comedy.

I might for sure give this one a watch if it comes to a theater near me. Could be funny. Could be really bad. There’s only one way to find out. Bottoms comes to theaters on Aug. 25.

Next up, let’s check out the trailer for the second season of Good Omens!

I really enjoyed the book, I really enjoyed the first season, and I’ll be happy to watch a second season. I’m sure they’ll have a ton of fun with this one! I think it’s an entirely new story, since the book didn’t have a sequel. As long as it’s got Neil Gaiman’s seal of approval, I’ll be content.

Good Omens season two comes to Amazon Prime on July 28.

Thirdly, it’s the full trailer for the long-awaited Venture Bros. wrap-up movie, which has the silly title of Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart.

I love the Venture Bros. as much as the next person. I even cosplayed as Henchman 21 at a couple of comic cons. Those pictures exist on the internet. Anyway, as much as I loved the show, I was somebody who got annoyed at how rarely new seasons came out. They were good seasons when they did…but they also rarely accomplished anything, paid off anything or were very memorable for the next five years of new content.

It was a shame when the show got cancelled, but…eh. I’ll gladly watch this movie. Hopefully they do pay off everything they put into this series. Or maybe there will just be more movies.

The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart will come to digital and DVD at the end of July.

Lastly, for now, we got a full game trailer for Moral Kombat 1.

I’ve played pretty much every Mortal Kombat game of the modern era. I’ll probably play this one at some point. Looks fine. No sign of Smoke, though, so perhaps I’ll have to wait for Mortal Kombat 2. I’m sure this one will be as fun as all the others.

Mortal Kombat 1 comes out on Sept. 19.

6 Thoughts on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

I had plenty of doubts about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse when it was first announced. Sony usually makes the worst possible decisions when it comes to their ownership of the Spider-Man franchise, so an animated film? No thank you. But I was wrong, so very wrong, and Into the Spider-Verse was amazing. I had zero doubts about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I knew it was going to be great, and it was! Simple as that. Best, most exciting movie experience of the year so far.

Movie Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic

Across the Spider-Verse surprised me in a lot of ways, with a lot of choices they made. It had all the Easter Eggs and callbacks and twists one could hope for. There’s a metric ton of Spider-People, and they clearly had fun with the cameos and the choices. I couldn’t be happier with all of that zaniness. The people making these movies know exactly what they’re doing, and now I can’t wait for next year’s Beyond the Spider-Verse.

New Superman Cartoon Incoming

We’ve known about My Adventures With Superman for a while, but now we’ve finally got a really good trailer for the upcoming animated show. It features Superman and the gang from the Daily Planet in an almost anime-style of animation. Looks pretty good.

I’ll probably watch. I don’t remember my track record on watching new DC superhero cartoons off the top of my head. I’m not religious about it, not like I am with Marvel shows. But this one looks neat and I’ll probably give it a watch. Though I might be reaching peak Jack Quaid tolerance…

My Adventures With Superman will debut on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network on July 6, then also post episodes to the Max streaming service.

Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Looks Spectacular

I have loved everything I’ve seen about the upcoming animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I have been a Turtles fan since I was a little kid in the ’80s. They were my jam. And I have gladly checked out all the various iterations over the years. I’m all in favor of a new one, especially one that looks so good.

I love the animation style. It’s gorgeous! It’s so flashy and cool. I love the sense of humor, the sense of action, the understanding of the characters. This looks so damn good! We also got our first looks at the supporting mutants, like Mondo Gecko, Ray Fillet and my favorite, Wingnut. They’re not as cool as I’d hoped they would be, but they definitely fit the style of the movie. So we’ll see how it all plays out on the big screen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem comes out on Aug. 2.

Ash vs. Tell It Animated

We need some slasher heroes! The good dude at Tell It Animated is now tackling Ash Williams from the Evil Dead films. Because Ash is awesome and deserves this sort of attention and love.

Another banger of an episode! I’m glad to see that Tell It Animated has nearly two million followers these days. I hope this dude is killing it and raking in the big bucks for his fun little shorts. I wish him all the success in the world.

And, as always, my recommendation is Robin!
