Watch Nimona Free on YouTube!

With the Oscars coming up soon, Netflix has decided to just put the entire movie Nimona up for free to watch on YouTube. The entire thing. Just straight up, the Nimona movie! It’s nominated for Best Animated Feature and is worthy of winning, in my opinion. As much as I loved Across the Spider-Verse, Nimona would be a great underdog winner. It’s a great film!

So watch and enjoy. I loved Nimona. And a lot of people these days are cancelling their Netflix. So if you haven’t seen Nimona yet, now is your chance! Make it happen!

Cartoon Trailer Monday!

Last week was a great week for cartoon trailers. And if I was more on my game, I should have posted about these last week. That’s on me. I’m sure everybody’s already seen these trailers, but you haven’t heard my thoughts on them yet!

First up is the big one, X-Men ’97. Everybody’s been talking about this all weekend, and of course I’m excited for this show. I lived off of the original X-Men animated series, so I am here for this!

Looks wonky but manageable. Not sure bringing back the same voice cast was the best idea. Not sure whatever they’re doing with the animation was the best idea. But their heart seems to be in the right place. Seems like they’ve got some solid stories lined up, and that Daily Bugle flapping in the breeze at the start of the trailer showed Maggott and Stacy X, and if those two characters appear for real in this show, then I’m going to automatically consider it a success.

Also, I am 110% behind everything they’re doing with Morph. Making them nonbinary is a great idea. And I love their new blank face/AoA Morph look. The Morph serialized story from the original show was always really impressive to me, and I’m excited to see them as a solid member of the team now.

X-Men ’97 comes to Disney+ on March 20.

Next up is the trailer for the second half of season two of Invincible. Loved everything so far, love the comic series, so bring it on!

Looks great! I recognize some of the storylines and characters from the comics, and then there’s stuff I’ve forgotten about. I’m confident that the people behind Invincible know exactly what they’re doing and they’re going to pull it off splendidly. So everybody just keep up the good work and get it done!

Invincible returns to Amazon Prime on March 14.

Lastly, our first look at Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I loved Mutant Mayhem as much as the next person, so I’m on board with those show.

Looks fun. Looks a little cheaply animated, but I can live with that. I don’t actually know if I’ll watch this show. I haven’t watched an ongoing Ninja Turtles cartoon in a very long time. They’re mostly for kids for real. And that’s how it should be! Let kids enjoy the Ninja Turtles. But if it’s as good as the movie, I might try this out.

Tales of the TMNT comes to Paramount+ this summer.

Hold All the Phones, There is a Knuckles TV Show Coming

We knew this was coming. It was announced, talked about, hinted at; and now we have a trailer. Dear lord in Heaven, we have a trailer for a live action Knuckles the Echidna TV show. How has it come to this?! I love Knuckles. Like, to an absurd degree. I loved him before I even knew what he looked like, because I was the sort of dorky kid who already knew what an echidna was before Knuckles showed up in Sonic 3. I spent so much energy hoping that Knuckles would show up in one of those two Sonic the Hedgehog animated cartoons from my youth.

Young Sean would have his mind freakin’ blown at this existence of this Knuckles TV show.

And it looks good maybe?! I’m no mega fan of the live action Sonic movies. In fact, I don’t think I particularly like them? I don’t remember. But I do think I really enjoyed Idris Elba as Knuckles in the sequel. So you best darn well believe I’ll be watching this show when it comes to Paramount+ on April 26.

Jeez louise. The Knuckles live action TV show. What even is the world we are living in?

Movie Trailer Monday!

It’s Monday. I’m off from work. Just home relaxing, sleeping in, and sharing a couple of movie trailers that showed up on the internet over the weekend. That’s how I roll. That’s how the world should roll.

We’ll kick things off with Despicable Me 4, which is apparently the highest grossing animated movie franchise of all time? God damn world.

Looks OK. Mostly it looks full of too much new stuff. New baby, new villain, new…sidekick? Who is that woman with the poofy red hair in the final scene? This trailer is just about hijinks instead of story, which is a shame. I’d like some story…not that I really care, honestly. I’m no Despicable Me purist or anything. Also, why aren’t the girls aging at all? That would be fun to explore.

Despicable Me 4 comes to theaters on July 3.

Next up is Monkey Man, wherein Dev Patel stars and directs his own John Wick.

Looks fine. Looks full of action. And that’s what it wants to be. Dav Patel and producer Jordan Peele should be able to make something good, I should think.

Monkey Man comes to theaters on April 5.

Lastly, it’s Ricky Stanicky!

John Cena and Zac Efron having fun in a straight-to-Amazon Prime movie? Could be worth a watch. Could be garbage. We’ll never know until it comes to Prime on March 7 and somebody remembers to watch it.

6 Other Classic Cartoons That Could Use a Modern Comic Reboot

For years now, classic cartoons from the 1980s and sometimes 1990s have been all the rage. They get rebooted, they get new, updated cartoons, and sometimes they get big budget movie adaptations! The latest attempt to cash in on that nostalgia is serious, epic comic book runs. I’ve always known that comics are a great medium for this kind of thing, and am excited to see what’s coming.

It’s gonna be wild

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic at IDW is about to hit issue #150, and will have a soft relaunch with a new, famous creative team. The ThunderCats comic is making news for a ton of pre-orders for their upcoming #1 issue launch from Dynamite. And both the Transformers and G.I.Joe are getting a big push with the Energon Universe through Image and Skybound. It’s a great time to be a fan of the cartoons from my youth. So what other cartoons could use a fun, modern comic book reboot? I’m glad you asked!

Join me after the jump for six cartoons from my childhood in the 1980s and 90s that could use a modern, serious, comic book relaunch! Also, if any comic companies are reading this, I’m currently available to hire to write these myself!
