Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/26/15

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to one and all! This was a pretty big week for comics, but it was also a pretty big week for Christmas. If you’re reading this on Saturday morning, I’m likely still with my family, celebrating. Such are the benefits of having both Christmas and the day after off from work.

So my list of reviews is a bit shorter this week due to the time crunch. Still, I read some really good comics this week, including new issues of Saga and Robin War, as well as the next chapter of Dark Knight III: The Master Race.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the first issue of Patsy Walker, a.k.a. Hellcat! It’s a fun, colorful and very savvy new comic, though it does skew a little too closely to some of Marvel’s other offerings, like Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Still, Squirrel Girl doesn’t have moments like this.

Take that, bad guy!

No, that’s not how Hellcat is draw throughout the entire comic. That’s just for funnsies!

Comic Reviews: Dark Knight III #2, Patsy Walker, a.k.a. Hellcat #1, Robin: Son of Batman #7 and Saga #32.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/12/15

Last week, I was all about the Marvel Comics. Not intentional, that’s just how things played out. Well this week, I’m apparently all about the Bat-Family. Not only do we have new issues of Robin War, including the Gotham Academy tie-in, but Dick Grayson guest stars in the latest issue of Starfire for no particular reason!

Heck, I could have gone really heavy into the Bat Family, but I haven’t caught up to Batman and Robin Eternal yet, and I didn’t feel like passing judgement on the latest issue of Scott Snyder’s Batman (though, if I may say, I’m absolutely loving their use of Duke Thomas). Still, we’ve got a very nice selection of Batty books this week, including the Comic Book of the Week: Grayson #15!

New series?

It’s a great time to be a Dick Grayson fan, I tell you what.

Also, don’t forget that my own comic, Gamer Girl & Vixen, is on sale now from our online store! Pick up a copy, support your local henchman, and the world will be a better place overall!

Comic Reviews: Grayson #15, Detective Comics #47, Gotham Academy #13, Scarlet Witch #1 and Starfire #7.

Batman v. Superman Brings the Everything

We were teasered earlier this week, and now the full brunt of the latest Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer has arrived!

It’s pretty good. There’s a lot given away in this trailer. We see Clark and Bruce meet for the first time, we see why they go to war, we see how Lex Luthor responds, we see Doomsday, who’d only been rumored up to this point, and we see Wonder Woman’s arrival in response to Doomsday. That’s kind of the whole movie, right?

Captain America v. Iron Man: Dawn of War still leads the pack for me!

Prepare to be Teasered!

Apparently, the new Batman v. Superman trailer will premiere Wednesday night on the Jimmy Kimmel show…which is also where the new Captain America v. Iron Man trailer premiered last week. What is up with Jimmy Kimmel as the go-to place for superhero trailer premieres? Stephen Colbert needs to get on that. At any rate, a short teaser of that trailer was released last night.

Man, these teasers of trailers are getting a little annoying. Just show us the darn trailer! Of course, by posting the teaser on my blog, I’m doing exactly what the teaser was designed to do. I’m part of the problem, people!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/28/15

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Or, at least, close enough! Due to that big American holiday, my reviews might be a little light this week. There are a ton of comics coming out these days that I enjoy, and I just couldn’t get too many helpings this week! But we’ve got the first issue of Dark Knight III, which is grabbing all the headlines. And we’ve got the always welcome return of Saga!

Comic Book of the Week goes to the first issue of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, a cute new comic from Marvel that resurrects an old franchise and gives it a 2015 spin.

The start of a beautiful relationship

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #2, Dark Knight III #1, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1, Saga #31 and Silk #1.
