Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/19/20
Merry Christmas, everybody! And Happy Hannukah! And all the other winter holidays! This time next week, Christmas will have passed! I don’t yet know if I’ll be going home for Christmas, or who all will even be there if I do. But hopefully I’ll have a good time.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #105 for a solid, enjoyable conclusion to the Ghost-Maker arc. I like how it ends, which was legitimately unexpected for me.
Meanwhile, I’m still enjoying Cyberpunk 2077. I don’t know if I’ll do a review/list when I’m finished. It would have far more positives than gripes. I also just started watching The Owl House on Disney+ and it’s a ton of fun so far! I’m so glad I’m finding all these new cartoons since so many of my favorites ended recently.
Speaking of Disney+, how great was that season finale of The Mandalorian?! Also, I called it! I called the ending! It’s not often I actually manage to call something.
Comic Reviews: Batman #105, The Green Lantern: Season Two #10, Iron Man #4 and Power Rangers #2.

The hype is real, people! By this time next week, I will be playing Cyberpunk 2077 and hopefully immersing myself in a wonderful world of madness. Here’s hoping my base Playstation 4 can handle it! Otherwise, I guess we can talk about some comics this week, like Batman, Far Sector and, oh look, The Union!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Thor #10 for another exciting, action-packed adventure. Though it pains me to award such a title to a comic that would do this to Beta Ray Bill.
Meanwhile, this week also saw the start of King in Black and I read it…and it’s fine. I haven’t followed hardly any of Donny Cates’ ongoing Venom saga, but I try to check in on Big Events when I’m in the mood. I won’t be giving this one full reviews because I’m not that interested…though since I’m on vacation, maybe I’ll go back and read all of Cates’ Venom? Would that be something? Also, while I have your attention, I just wrapped up the Hulu show Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and that is a strong recommendation from me! That show was brilliant!
Comic Reviews: Batman #104, Far Sector #9, Strange Adventures #7, Thor #10, The Union #1 and X-Factor #5.

A crime has been committed against fashion! Through a flashback in Batman #104, released today, we can clearly see that Dick Grayson’s original Robin costume has been added back to continuity. Short shorts, bare legs and pixie boots included!
Oh what a horror! What a shame! Why must we suffer like this? The New 52 brought on a much cooler, more modern take on Robin’s original costume. It’s a little busy, but it works! And surely it’s better than Robin ever wearing that original 1940s get-up, right?
I get that nostalgia is strong in comic fandom, but come on! Can’t we all agree that the original Robin costume went a long way towards turning the character into the laughing stock he is with the mainstream public? Can’t we all recognize that that costume belongs in the past where it was created?
Robin deserves better than to be reminded of the worst fashion choice in the history of comics, no matter how classic it might be.

Happy Thanksgiving, American friends! The holiday isn’t until Thursday, but this feels like a good time to say something nice about Thanksgiving. Be safe. Wear your mask. Social distance. Do all that good stuff.
Against my better judgement, Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Force #14, due entirely to lack of competition. None of the other comics I read this week were as fun.
Meanwhile, I skipped the newest issue of Spider-Woman. Not much happened. And I’m still enjoying Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Oh, I know! I got around to watching a Hulu show called Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and it’s very fun! Highly recommended.
Comic Reviews: Batman #103, Juggernaut #3, X-Force #14, Hellions #6 and Cable #6.
