Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/21/23

The weekend is upon us again and that means more comics and more reviews! I’ve got a 3-day weekend, so I’m gonna relax, play video games and hope the world doesn’t end. At least I’ve got the likes of Invincible Iron Man, the Wasp and Power Rangers to keep me company.

Comic book of the Week goes to Nightwing #100 because I’m a suck for emotional scenes between Batman and his Robins. Just tug at my damn heartstrings, why don’tcha?

By all means…

Meanwhile, I’m spending this weekend finally beating Pokemon Violet. I’ve been dragging my feet with this game for no particular reason and I swear to see it through to the end. Then perhaps I’ll pick up Marvel: Midnight Suns. Also, shame to hear about the lay-offs at Comixology. I’m gonna have to juggle where I get my comics from it seems, as I’m sure many will. I hope those employees cruelly cut from Amazon land on their feet.

Comic Reviews: Invincible Iron Man #2, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #104, Nightwing #100 and The Wasp #1.

The New Ant-Man Trailer Goes Heavy on the Kang

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is only about a month away from arriving in theaters and I’m very excited! Ant-Man is my favorite Avenger and I’ve enjoyed his films. And the next one is gonna be big and bombastic! It’s also gonna introduce a proper Kang the Conqueror as the new big bad.

And the new trailer, debuting last night, really goes heavy on Kang action!

Fun trailer! Not as jovial as the first one, but it definitely shows off the action very well. We’ve got lots of Scott Langs, we’ve got some quality drama attached to his daughter, Cassie, and we’ve got a metric ton of danger associated with Kang the Conqueror! Sounds good to me. And yes, those are our first official looks at MODOK! How nifty!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to theaters on Feb. 17!

6 Thoughts on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Review)

Making Black Panther: Wakanda Forever couldn’t have been easy. Ryan Coogler and Chadwick Boseman were well into plotting and scripting this sequel when Boseman passed, after keeping his illness a secret from even his close collaborators. But I’m glad that Coogler, Marvel and the whole cast decided to push through and make this movie the way they did. Wakanda Forever is a big, rich and emotional movie, full of great performances and a really outstanding superhero story.

Movie Rating: 9/10 – Great

I very much enjoyed Wakanda Forever. I didn’t mind the long runtime. I loved the introduction of Namor, even though I’ve never been a fan of the character. I loved the story of the new Black Panther, even though I didn’t think I would. And I think everyone involved truly brought their A games to honor Boseman. It made for an exciting watch. I was already a big fan of the first Black Panther movie, and I think I liked this sequel even more. The same confidence was at play in the filmmaking, and I just think Namor and the Talokans were a wonderful antagonist. Good time all around!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Looks Cool!

The Marvel movie machine continues to roll along, much to all our enjoyment. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due out in a couple of weeks, so we’ve got the first trailer for the next movie after that, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. I love all of these things, and I love this trailer.

Looks great! We got Ant-Man, we got the Wasp, it definitely looks like Cassie Lang is going to suit up in this one. And Jonathan Majors as Kang is really cool. I look forward to him being a huge menace. If I’m being entirely honest, I’m not yet sold on the Quantum Realm being so identical to the worlds of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but we’ll see how that turn sout.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theaters on Feb. 17, which is closer than you think.

6 Thoughts on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

I have a new favorite! She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been getting a lot of flack for reasons that make no sense to me. This show was everything it said it would be and more, and everything I wanted it to be. Funny, charming, full of personality and perfectly built around a very fun main character. I want to see Tatiana Maslany and Jennifer Walters everywhere now.

TV Show Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic

Once upon a time, I didn’t think She-Hulk would work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I didn’t think the MCU Hulk could translate into a She-Hulk movie. Thankfully, the world changed and the Disney+ TV shows changed everything. The creative team behind She-Hulk: Attorney at Law used the TV format to perfection to bring this character and her unique perspective to life. I want production to start immediately on season 2!

Join me after the jump for my full thoughts and review of the first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Expect FULL SPOILERS. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments!
