6 Thoughts on Thunderbolts* (Review)

The second of three Marvel movies hit the big screen this past weekend and I was right there opening night, like the good old days! I was very excited for Thunderbolts* and I’m very happy to say that it mostly lived up to my expectations. Part of me wanted more from the movie, but only in the sense that it was already good and I just wanted more of it to enjoy.

Movie Rating: 8/10 – Very Good

I will admit that Thunderbolts* was not the rip-roaring good time I was hoping for, and that’s OK. This was a darker, more somber movie, while still having bits of fun and great action. It’s not the second coming of the Avengers — despite the title/marketing change. I still had fun with this one, and I bet it’s going to grow on me over time. I really want to go back and see it in the theaters for a second time.

Join me after the jump for my full thoughts/review of Thunderbolts*. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole movie, so read at your own peril. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments below.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/12/22

And so we come to it at last. This day, unlike any other. In which I post some comic reviews on Saturday. But not just any Saturday. This Saturday. And we’ve got some Batman and some Captain America and probably something else.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Fantastic Four #1, kicking off Ryan North’s next big Marvel comic series! After Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, I’m excited to see what else he’s got in store for us.

Off to a good start

Meanwhile, I very much enjoyed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. I think I liked it more than the first, especially because of Namor and everything he brought to the table. Quality movie all around, and I’ll have my review up on Wednesday! I’ve also started watching Andor, at long last. It’s going well so far.

Comic Reviews: Batman Incorporated #2, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #6, Fantastic Four #1 and Legion of X #7.

6 Thoughts on the (First?) Season of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Six weeks of action and excitement have come and gone and I declare that the first season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was awesome! I loved the whole darn thing, from beginning to end. A lot of chatter online has this show as flawed, but I disagree entirely. I had fun the whole way through and loved pretty much every minute of it.

TV Rating: 9/10 – Great.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was everything I wanted and more. Going into the series, I expected an action show on par with the action-heavy Marvel movies, and we got that. I expected some fun banter/butting heads between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. We got that. Then the show took things even further with some truly memorable side characters and a deeper exploration of race than I would have ever predicted. I thought that part was great as well!

What can I say? I love me some Marvel Cinematic Universe content!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Comes Out With a New Trailer Just in Time

All trailers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier have been fun. And with only a few days left until the first episode airs, we’ve got one last trailer to enjoy. If you don’t want to watch because you don’t want anything spoiled, I totally understand. I don’t watch pre-release clips for the same reason. But this trailer is the same as all the others. No major spoilers.

Looks great! This looks to be a really fun buddy action comedy, bringing big movie spectacle to the small screen. The leads are fun, the storylines sound interesting and I’m confident Marvel will have another hit! Just gotta wait until Friday to watch!

The Big Game Brings a Big Trailer!

The Super Bowl was yesterday and, as is my nature, I didn’t watch it. But I definitely watched the new trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, released alongside the Big Game! Still looks great!

The show comes to Disney+ on March 19, with is a little more than a month away. And…there’s not much more to say about the show at this point. The trailer looks amazing. The special and digital effects are movie-quality. This looks to be as good as a Marvel movie, and that’s insane!

I wish I was a smarter, more academic person so I could analyze how this will effect the TV landscape going forward. TV shows with the budgets and digital effects quality of movies? Madness! And I’m very excited. I hope you are too!
