In First Full Transformers 4 Trailer, Optimus Prime Has Let Himself Go

I will defend the first Transformers movie until the day I die, but 2 and 3 were pretty much crap. Fortunately for all of us, it looks like Transformers 4 is going all ‘new storyline’ on us. Shia ‘The Plagiarist’ LaBeouf is gone, replaced by Mark Wahlberg and various other people. Check out the first full trailer to get a good idea of the new plot!

When they say ‘Age of Extinction’, I guess they really mean it. I’m more than willing to see what happens in Transformers: Age of Extinction. This first trailer looks kind of neat.

Bad Packaging? Or Greatest Transformers Idea Ever?

So the other day I was reading a list of 21 Terrible Knock-Off Action Figures at BuzzFeed. Pretty typical stuff. But then I saw this one the list:

Autobot or Decepticon?

The Titanic…as a Transformer! I know it’s a knock-off toy, but it’s a brilliant idea! Why haven’t they done this as a legitimate Transformers idea before? Take some of the greatest vehicles in history, and retroactively say that they were Transformers! The Titanic, the First Model T, the Lusitania, the Wright Bros. plane, anything! Everything!

Or better yet, let me write the story! Who has the Transformers comic book license these days? Somebody get them on the phone for me, we have to talk business!

6 Fan-Made Characters That Were Embraced by the Real Creators

Do you remember Gary the Gray Power Ranger, the one who drove Titanus? Or what about Dustin the Animorph-Controller, who was both one of the good guys and one of the bad guys? Or Jedi Padawan Tasher Jaken? No? You don’t? Well don’t worry, you shouldn’t remember them. They never existed, not in the real shows, books or movies anyway. They are all my own fan fiction creations. All 100% my own ideas.

Creating my own original characters to fit into existing franchises has always been one of my favorite writing hobbies. I was even naive enough once upon a time to think I had a chance of making them a reality, if only I could speak with the writers or creators.

Now I know better. I was fooling myself.

But seriously, who’s driving this thing?

Yet even though it never worked out for me, the dream isn’t so far-fetched. Sometimes the creators and professionals really do listen to their fans. Sometimes that silly bit of fan fiction can take on a life of its own. Or maybe the fans will embrace a seemingly unimportant background character and adopt him or her like a mascot. It can happen. It has happened. I found six characters from TV, video games and movies that were – for the most part – created and embellished by the fans, only for the real creators to take notice and embrace these fan creations, bringing them into the real canon.

Because When I Think ‘Transformers’, I Think Slow, Emotional Ballad

Last year, my friends and I played and enjoyed the video game Transformers: War for Cybertron. It sold well, and there will be a sequel coming out. The first trailer was released over the weekend, and considering the games are not based on the Michael Bay movies, this trailer goes in the exact opposite direction of the Bay movies. Sure there are explosions and giant warrior robots, but these ones are meaningful, dammit.

It’s called Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

At least it has a giant, fire-breathing Tyrannosaurus Rex robot! He’s called Grimlock.
