NYC Comic-Con Trailers Already! Like Game of Thrones and The Mighty Nein!

New York Comic-Con has kicked off and I’m not there. I’ve got work and stuff. But a bunch of trailers have already arrived online, and I’ve compiled them into this nice big blog post. It’s probably not every trailer that’s come out so far, but it’s all the ones that caught my eye, and that’s really what this blog is all about: me!

First up is the first trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, another Gamer of Thrones spin-off. I haven’t seen a single episode of House of the Dragon, but I obviously enjoyed the original and this one looks like fun!

Maybe I’ll give this one a shot. Or maybe I’ll finally watch House of the Dragon. It’s hard to say with me. I watch and don’t watch all sorts of things. But this trailer makes the show look very fun, with solid production values and some good main characters. That’s good enough for me!

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms comes to HBO MAX on Jan. 18.

Next up is a trailer for the second season of Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the animated spin-off from the Mutant Mayhem movie.

Looks great! I loved Mutant Mayhem. I loved the first season of Tales. They introduced a fun new mutant I really like: Lee the Eel! And this second season looks to bring in Old Hob from the IDW comics, as well as possibly Tokka and Rahzar! I want this show to use existing mutants! That’s half the fun of seeing new adaptations of the Turtles, to see the new adaptations of classic characters as well! So I’m fully on board.

Season two of Tales of the TMNT comes to Paramount+ in December.

Let’s move on to a trailer for The Mighty Nein, the second campaign from Critical Role. I am not a Critter, which is what I think CR fans are called. I’ve never watched their D&D show, but I’ve seen clips, and all those clips are from The Mighty Nein sessions, so I’m very excited about this new adaptation!

And it looks great! The characters and voice-acting will be the highlights, and I can’t wait to see some of my favorite clips turned into actual animated TV show.

The Mighty Nein comes to Prime Video on Nov. 19, which is soon!

The last trailer to catch my attention is the one for Pluribus, a weird, sci-fi show by Vince Gilligan, the guy behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. I loved both those shows so I’m obviously excited for this new one!

And we should all be excited! Looks sufficiently weird and sufficiently sci-fi. And we know we can trust Vince Gilligan.

Pluribus…or maybe it’s Plur1bus…comes to AppleTV+ on Nov. 7, which is even sooner! Neat!

Ninja Turtles Mini Sequel Coming in December!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was phenomenal! And the follow up cartoon was also super fun. So as a lifelong Ninja Turtles fan, I am fully on board with the current media status quo. And we’re next going to see these turtle teens in a new short cartoon premiering ahead of an upcoming Spongebob movie on Dec. 19.

Looks good to me! The animation is still awesome. The jokes are cool. The turtles are pretty awesome. I’m glad to see new material since we don’t know when the movie sequel will come out.

Will I go see this Spongebob movie just to see this short? No. I’ll have to figure out some other way to watch. I’m sure it will be fun!

Here’s That Ninja Turtles Trailer I Was Waiting For

On Friday, we got a trailer for the upcoming Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. I was hoping to post it on Friday, but it didn’t come out until the evening and I was already busy with other stuff by then. So here it is now!

I enjoy how well they’ve captured the look and feel of Mutant Mayhem. I don’t like that it’s only going to be like 12 episodes. Everything is of so few episodes these days. And it’s weird that the focus is on splitting up the turtles, like that’s a selling point. Just weird.

Anyway, could be a fun cartoon, and it comes to Paramount+ on Aug. 9.

Cartoon Trailer Monday!

Last week was a great week for cartoon trailers. And if I was more on my game, I should have posted about these last week. That’s on me. I’m sure everybody’s already seen these trailers, but you haven’t heard my thoughts on them yet!

First up is the big one, X-Men ’97. Everybody’s been talking about this all weekend, and of course I’m excited for this show. I lived off of the original X-Men animated series, so I am here for this!

Looks wonky but manageable. Not sure bringing back the same voice cast was the best idea. Not sure whatever they’re doing with the animation was the best idea. But their heart seems to be in the right place. Seems like they’ve got some solid stories lined up, and that Daily Bugle flapping in the breeze at the start of the trailer showed Maggott and Stacy X, and if those two characters appear for real in this show, then I’m going to automatically consider it a success.

Also, I am 110% behind everything they’re doing with Morph. Making them nonbinary is a great idea. And I love their new blank face/AoA Morph look. The Morph serialized story from the original show was always really impressive to me, and I’m excited to see them as a solid member of the team now.

X-Men ’97 comes to Disney+ on March 20.

Next up is the trailer for the second half of season two of Invincible. Loved everything so far, love the comic series, so bring it on!

Looks great! I recognize some of the storylines and characters from the comics, and then there’s stuff I’ve forgotten about. I’m confident that the people behind Invincible know exactly what they’re doing and they’re going to pull it off splendidly. So everybody just keep up the good work and get it done!

Invincible returns to Amazon Prime on March 14.

Lastly, our first look at Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I loved Mutant Mayhem as much as the next person, so I’m on board with those show.

Looks fun. Looks a little cheaply animated, but I can live with that. I don’t actually know if I’ll watch this show. I haven’t watched an ongoing Ninja Turtles cartoon in a very long time. They’re mostly for kids for real. And that’s how it should be! Let kids enjoy the Ninja Turtles. But if it’s as good as the movie, I might try this out.

Tales of the TMNT comes to Paramount+ this summer.

First Look at Wingnut and the Mutants in new Ninja Turtles Movie

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is shaping up to be a pretty awesome flick. I’ve been a Ninja Turtles fan since I watched the cartoon and collected the toys in the 1980s. So you best believe I am tickled pink that so many of my favorite guys are gonna show up as a mutant gang in this film, from Mondo Gecko to Ray Fillet to my favorite character, Wingnut! And finally, at long last, we’ve got a clear look at Wingnut and the other mutants courtesy of some dope character posters.

She looks like she has a screw loose

Personally, I would have liked a more humanoid Wingnut, but considering he’s been changed to a she, and she’ll be voiced by Natasia Demetriou, it probably would have been too easy to make her like Rouge the Bat from Sonic the Hedgehog.

I have faith in this fuzzy little critter they’ve created. I like that, instead of Wingnut’s traditional mechanical wings, they’ve given her mechanical arms instead. That makes a lot of sense with the character now being a mutant instead of an alien. I never liked that alien origin anyway. Also, I hope we get some kind of Screwloose Easter Egg.

So yeah, there’s a whole bunch of character posters to check out here. I think everybody looks great in that weird, wild way. Again, I prefer my TMNT mutants to be more humanoid, like the Turtles themselves. But I can definitely wrap my head around these oblong and weirdly shaped mutants. It fits the film, after all.

Also, in case you needed to hear it, I love what they’ve done with April O’Neal. She looks great.

Seth Rogen delivered a quickie behind-these-scenes look at the voice cast, so you can check that out as well.

Mutant Mayhem looks like it’s gonna be great! Comes out in August and I can’t wait!
