I Am Fully on Board With An Insane Street Fighter Movie

Late last week were The Game Awards, which I don’t watch, but they had a lot of trailers for upcoming video games and video game-related things. I should probably share some of those trailers, and I might, because I like video games. But more importantly, we got a solid teaser trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter movie…and it’s a hoot!

I am fully in favor of going full cartoon with a new Street Fighter movie. I’m very eager to see what they do with it. A cheesy Street Fighter was a flop in the 90s. A more serious attempt was a flop, when they focused on Chun-Li that one time. Why not have some fun with it? Why not go with totally accurate costumes and powers and smashing cars and fighting? Mortal Kombat tried to be serious and make stuff up and not even get to the tournament. The Twisted Metal TV show is going all-in on the zaniness and it was one of the best shows of the year!

The Street Fighter movie comes to theaters on…oh wow, Oct. 16. That’s a long ways away. And yet still before Grand Theft Auto VI…alas.

Honestly, I Think I Liked the Street Fighter Movie

It’s been a couple years since I last rewatched the live action Street Fighter movie, but I’m pretty sure I liked it. I guess it’s not a masterpiece or anything, perhaps not even a good movie. But hey, it exists!

Honest Trailers continues to not have any new movies to make videos about, so we’re doing classics. More power to them, I say! We all need something with our lives these days.

Also, did you know Ming-Na Wen played Chun-Li in this movie? Neat!

While the boss is away: One hench-person’s top six video game themes

Thank God.  I thought he’d never leave.
Until the boss returns, this site belongs to the henchmen.  Viva la revolution!

Now that we have some time to ourselves, I thought I’d rate for you my arbitrarily-numbered favourite themes from video games.  Just in case you’ve missed out on the past 20 years of video game development, they’re as much a musical experience as they are visual and tactile.  For many gamers, the music of video games has stayed with us long after the games themselves have found their way onto a lonely shelf.  Let’s take a look back, shall we?

6. Super Mario Brothers

It’s not always style or beauty in the music itself that captivates us.  This song, playful and upbeat, represents an entire generation of gamers from the very start of the home console.

5. Tetris

This isn’t the first time the Tetris theme has made it onto this blog, and for good reason.  This theme echos the methodical approach to Tetris’s gameplay, and at times the frantic rush that comes with the more difficult stages.
