Scream is in the Venom Movie After All!

Good news, everybody! It turns out that Scream, my favorite of the symbiotes, is in the Venom movie after all! I had no idea. The other day, when I shared the latest trailer, I complained that SONY had settled on Riot as the villain. He’s the least interesting of the five Separation Anxiety symbiotes. I suggested they use Scream, the bright yellow female symbiote. She looks damn cool.

I never understood why she wasn’t more popular

A couple things happened after I watched that trailer. First, I watched it again and saw the woman with the symbiote blade arm thing at about 1:54 in the trailer. I wasn’t sure what to make of that. I just assumed it was more symbiote craziness.

Then I saw online that that actress is Michelle Lee, who is playing Donna Diego, according to IMDB. And Donna Diego is the real name of Scream, the female symbiote.

Alas, now Scream will never be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

So how do you like them apples? My favorite symbiote is in the movie after all! I hope she’ll still be bright yellow, with badass blade hair!

Another Action Figure to Add to My Buy Pile

Toy Fair is here and we’ve got a look at upcoming Marvel Legends action figures! There’s a bunch that look pretty great, including a cool Astonishing Ant-Man/Stinger two-pack that I’ll definitely get. But I’m here to talk about one figure specifically: Scream, the female symbiote.

Maybe she’ll be in the Venom movie!

Of all the wild and crazy symbiotes out there in comic book land, I think Scream is my favorite. First of all, she’s got a cool look. And she was only the third ever symbiote, so she was around before Marvel went too wild with symbiotes. Also, in the 90s, there was a slight attempt made to make Scream more of a good guy, which I always enjoy. So yeah, I’m excited for a quality Scream action figure!

This also explains why we were getting a Lasher figure, announced before.

Also, one more fun Scream story! I went to Universal Studios in Orlando this past December and they have a big Marvel superheroes adventure land. It was awesome. There was a Spider-Man 3D ride, which was essentially a short Spider-Man adventure video where he battles his bad guys, with the ride car jostling and shaking to fit the video. There’s a bunch of classic bad guys in the video, but out of all the symbiotes they could have put in, they used Scream. Not Venom or Carnage, Scream. For this theme park ride. Weird choice.

Anyway, I was hoping that at least some of the many souvenir shops at the park might have merchandise based on the ride — but nope! They had a bunch of Venom and Carnage stuff, but no memorabilia based on the actual ride they had. So nothing about Scream! I was disappointed.

Until now!

Why the Hell is Lasher Getting an Action Figure?

Comic Con is also a great place to show off new and upcoming action figures, which is another favorite bit of Comic Con news for me. I will always hold out hope that Multiple Man will finally get his due.

Well, as with every year, I’ve come away disappointed. No Multiple Man action figures, everybody. There’s a neat Songbird, though, so that should be fun.

Insanest of all, however, is an action figure for Lasher. What the hell is this nonsense?

Lasher Action Figure 01

You don’t know me

How does Lasher get a random action figure? Out of all possible characters, why Lasher? Did they have a bunch of extra Spider-Man sculpts lying around and decided he would be the best use?

Who is Lasher? That’s a damn good question.

Lasher is one of five symbiotes broken off from Venom in the Separation Anxiety storyline, back when symbiotes were still new and cool in the 90s. There was Venom, then Carnage, and then five more all of a sudden. You had Lasher, Page, Riot, Agony and Scream.

Out of those five, the only one who really went on to anything of note is Scream, the first and most famous female symbiote. I’m a fan. The other four had their hosts killed almost immediately. The four of them then bonded to form Hybrid, another 90s symbiote. I’m also a fan of Hybrid.

But Hybrid’s host was also killed and the four symbiotes were separated and turned into military weapons, which was pretty cool. They were last seen helping Deadpool, with Lasher having possessed a cool military dog.

So I’m not saying symbiotes aren’t cool. I’m saying, out of all the possible symbiotes, out of all the possible Spider-Man characters, why does Lasher get an action figure?

Now, if they were making a whole symbiote line, I would totally be down for that! I would have to have a good Scream or Hybrid action figure in my collection. So hopefully this Lasher nonsense is just the start of something great!

This Week, In Killing Comic Book Characters That I Really Like

Hey gang, remember that post I wrote a few weeks ago about two of my favorite symbiotes: Hybrid and Scream? And remember how I was basically writing that neither one has appeared in comic books in several years? Well good news, both Hybrid and Scream the female symbiote appeared in this week’s Venom #15!

AWWWWWW YEEEAAAAAHHH!!!

And then they were both promptly killed!

Awwwwww, no
