Justice League Logos for Everyone!

Today was apparently a big day for executive meetings I don’t get invited to attend. Justice League is the talk of the town, with the official movie logo and first synopsis revealed!

Looks fine.

And the synopsis seems pretty standard, too.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Sounds all manner of reasonable, I’d say.

Though now we know that that the villain of the first Justice League movie will be Steppenwolf, which is…insane. But hey, maybe somebody knows what they’re doing. Maybe we don’t need Darkseid.

You can head over to Comics Alliance to see a full rundown of all the news that has come out about the Justice League and DC movies. There’s a ton of it, and I suppose it could be cool.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/18/16

I was presented with an interesting conundrum from this week’s comic books, one that strikes to the very heart of the comic book market these days. Which was the better comic this week, Batman or Patsy  Walker? Batman or Patsy Walker?

I bet that’s a question I never thought I’d ask myself.

We’ve got some very fun comics this week. Astonishing Ant-Man goes full Ocean’s Eleven. Justice League tells a fun story about Robin’s first meeting with the team. And Civil War II assures us that it’s probably safe to ignore all of Marvel’s hype for this year. But the real battle comes down to an exciting, almost cinematic start for writer Tom King’s Batman run versus one of the most delightful issues of Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat yet!

Though it’s probably no surprise which issue wins Comic Book of the Week from me.

Batman doesn’t have problems with locks

I just can’t help myself. Greatness is greatness. Also, that’s Jessica Jones, for those of you wondering. We can only hope they recreate this scene in Jessica Jones Season 2 on Netflix.

Comic Reviews: Astonishing Ant-Man #9, Batman #1, Civil War II #2, Justice League #51 and Patsy Walker a.k.a. Hellcat #7.

Justice League vs. Teen Titans Teaser!

I haven’t watched the DC Comics animated movies in awhile, even though they’ve currently taken up a strong continuity telling the story of Damian Wayne. Well in the next one, he’s going to join the Teen Titans! And it’s going to be Justice League vs. Teen Titans!

Part of me wants to watch these movies, but another part of me already has seen a few, and knows they’re just not very good anymore. But hey, more power to everyone involved!

Here’s That Dark and Gloomy Wonder Woman Footage

DC Comics really hit the ground running last night with a big, entertainment extravaganza! Not only did they show off the first looks at the Justice League, including Flash and Cyborg, not only did they confirm that the Green Lantern Corps is coming, and not only did they debut a new, spectacular Suicide Squad trailer, but they also premiered the first footage of their Wonder Woman movie, which is currently filming, with Gal Gadot in the lead role.

Not sure why Kevin Smith was pulled into this, but his reactions seem as canned as humanly possible.

Anyway, the footage looks cool, but then it also looks dark and gloomy. Extremely dark and gloomy. I realize that ‘dark and gloomy’ is how DC is treating their Big Three characters, but that footage is really, really dark and gloomy.

We can only hope that Suicide Squad does better at the box office than Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Maybe that will be a lesson learned.

Behold, Our Justice League!

It’s never too soon to start the hype machine, so here is our first ever look at the entire movie Justice League! It’s only concept art for now, but this is it!

Is ‘Dawn’ really the strongest word they could come up with?

The art is to promote an upcoming TV special about building the movie Justice League, which is part of the larger media blitz for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is our first official look at Cyborg and Flash, even if it’s not a very good look. But this could be a lot worse!

Also, now that I think about it, does anybody else find it a little weird that, after the Big Three, the most promoted DC superhero at this point is Aquaman? To be fair, I’m super excited for Jason Momoa’s performance, but still, Aquaman? You’ve got Flash and Cyborg waiting in the wings, but you’re leading with Aquaman?

Just kind of interesting, is all.
