Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/27/20
The coronavirus is getting worse here in America, but comics are still coming out! So let’s keep my mind occupied while I continue to hole up in this increasingly small apartment. Thankfully, I’ve got the likes of Batman and Thor to keep me company this week.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #50, a fun and exciting climax that lives up to all of the build-up. Lots of cool moments in this one.
Meanwhile, life continues on as normal. I still haven’t read Money Shot by Tim Seeley, but I promise I will. Tim, if you’re reading this, I promise to read your comic. I’ve been enjoying The Last of Us Part II. It’s a great game so far. I recently finished all of My Hero Academia. That was a trip! Very good anime. And the comic book industry is going through a bit #MeToo movement, which I fully support. Believe the victims. Ditch the perpetrators.
Comic Reviews: Batman #93, Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey #2, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #50 and Thor #5.

Good golly, Miss Molly! The Harley Quinn cartoon show was an absolute delight! I had high hopes for the series after seeing the first few trailers. Then the show captured me from the very first scene of the very first episode! A sharp, visceral cartoon that wasn’t afraid to be vicious, while also telling a very good, character-focused story.
TV Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic!
The Harley Quinn cartoon ran for 13 episodes on the DC Universe streaming service, with the final episode airing this past Friday. The next season is right around the corner in April, and I am thrilled! Harley Quinn is a hard R-rated show that doesn’t skimp on the violence and language, while making sure to use all of that to be funny and smart. It’s a triumph of well-written humor, voice acting, storytelling and more! Not every episode was a masterpiece, and there were some poor choices here and there, but overall, this first season was phenomenal television!

How About Some Quality Joker Content?
It’s that time of year! When Joker comes out on DVD and the internet is awash with Joker content to capitalize on the SEO! I’m no internet expert, nor was I particularly a fan of Joker, but I’m all about sharing some quality-made internet comedy.
Like How Joker Should Have Ended!
Once again, the HISHE people focus more on their own running gags than on an actual alternate ending to Joker…but this one was still funny. Solid comedy all-around, including the attention to detail of an all-80s Villains Pub.
Then we’ve also got the Tell It Animated guy doing the Joker!
He’s also doing a ton of ads, apparently. But hey, I’m no fool. You make that money, friend! You turn your awesome idea into a moneymaker! You make it happen!
And do Iron Man next. Or James Bond.

This is Some Good Joker Parody by SNL
I don’t watch Saturday Night Live, haven’t for at least a decade. But like most comedy these days, a lot of it shows up on YouTube the next morning. Such is life. Which is where I watched this funny Joker parody starring David Harbour as a gritty Oscar the Grouch!
That’s some good parody! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Send in the Clowns
It’s Joker time! I’m going to head out and see the movie after work today. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve never really cared about the Joker as a character, so I’m not particularly excited for this film. But I’m hoping it’s good!
What’s definitely good is the 1960s Batman movie, starring the Joker! Honestly!
I was a huge fan of the original live action Batman TV show growing up. That was good, silly fun. I haven’t seen this movie in awhile, and I doubt it holds up by today’s standards, but it’s perfect fodder for Honest Trailers to take down a notch!
Also, Robin doesn’t suck!
