Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/10/16

Anybody else get real lazy on a vacation? And I don’t mean a vacation where you go on an awesome trip and have great adventures. I mean a staycation, where you largely spend the time sitting at home playing video games, reading comics and occasionally venturing out to catch Pokemon. That’s the kind of vacation I just had, and it was pretty neat. But man, did it take a lot of effort to actually write comic book reviews this week. But I got it done!

Some quality comics this week, including Iron Man, Nightwing and Doctor Strange, even. But Comic Book of the Week easily and handily goes to Harley Quinn #3, for bringing joy and romance to all of comics! There is no better relationship these days than Harley and Ivy!

What was she going to say?!

What was she going to say?!

They are a shining beacon in all of comics. If only Nightwing was this much fun. Or Iron Man. And the new Supergirl Rebirth would have greatly benefited from some of that charisma.

Comic Reviews: Doctor Strange #11, Harley Quinn #3, Invincible Iron Man #13, Nightwing #4 and Supergirl #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/6/16

I don’t know what this makes of me, but I skipped the Suicide Squad Rebirth issue this week. I’ve never been particularly interested in the comic. And I only kinda sorta liked the movie. So nuts to that whole mess!

Fortunately, the nuts and bolts of Suicide Squad are still good! Harley Quinn debuts her new Rebirth series this week, and its as phenomenal! I’m so glad that Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti and their artistic teams are still around! Best possible choice by DC there.

I feel like Harley Quinn has probably fought zombies before

Though I still want to see an entire issue drawn by Conner. It would be magical! Does anybody know if she’s said publicly why she isn’t drawing much of the comic? She’s one of my favorite artists in the biz and this book is almost tailor-made for her.

Comic Reviews: Batman #4, Harley Quinn #1, Invincible Iron Man #12, Justice League #2 and Nightwing #2.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/9/16

Wow, so, uh, for the first time in the history of my doing this blog, I forgot to post these comic book reviews this morning. I had them all written up and almost ready to go, but I woke up Saturday morning and thought to myself…nothing. I forgot all about them. Then I downloaded Pokemon Go and went for a walk around the city. Well, you understand what that would have done to me. Still, not an excuse! These are super late, and I hope they’re still good!

I tried out Kim & Kim from Black Mask Studios. I read through both Amazing Spider-Man and adjectiveless Spider-Woman. And I even gave both Batman and Punisher a try. Pretty standard week of comics, if I do say so myself.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Silver Surfer #5, because it is still a very delightful comic book.

In this issue, Silver Surfer meets the Amish

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #15, Batman #2, Invincible Iron Man #11, Kaijumax #3, Kim & Kim #1, Punisher #3, Silver Surfer #5 and Spider-Woman #9.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/4/2016

Rebirth is upon us! After kicking everything off with that big, debut issue last week, DC has churned out a couple of their Rebirth preview comics this week. They’ll get to the new #1 issues soon enough, but for now, we take a quick peek at Batman, Superman and Green Lanterns. I’m going to try out a couple different Rebirth comics coming up, and I checked out all three of these, to varying degrees of enjoyment.

But that’s not the only big release this week! Marvel delivers the first issue of their new Civil War II crossover! And I couldn’t care less! Jeez louise. I understand the desire to tie into the movie of the same name, but come on! I guess I’ll struggle through it.

Fortunately, this week also saw the release of All-New Wolverine and the new Pink Ranger solo mini-series, both of which were delightful. All-New Wolverine scores Comic Book of the Week once again.

How can you not love this?

Who knew I would like a Wolverine comic so much once they ditched Wolverine? Though this issue has more Wolverines than a regular comic.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #9, Batman Rebirth #1, Civil War II #1, Green Lanterns Rebirth #1, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers – Pink #1, Punisher #2 and Superman Rebirth #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/7/16

What a strange two weeks. Last week, my pile of comics was so overflowing with good options that I didn’t have time to read and review them all! This week, there’s barely a smattering of titles I read, though a lot of the comics do feature characters that star in this week’s Captain America: Civil War. And I promise to get caught up on Black Widow. I really want to read that comic.

As it stands, I was a little too busy watching Civil War to get caught up on a comics, so the review offerings are a bit weak this week. Still, we got new Spider-Man and Iron Man comics, as well as the Comic Book of the Week, Punisher #1, by Becky Cloonan — though if I’m being entirely honest, I wasn’t that big of a fan of the issue.

Despite it’s cinder block attacks

My ‘problems’ with the Punisher are well-documented on this blog. They’re no one’s fault but my own.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #12, Invincible Iron Man #9 and Punisher #1.
