I Got Blurbed Again! But They Spelled It Wrong!
Good news, everybody! I have randomly discovered that one of my comic reviews has again been blurbed by Marvel, this time on the back of Volume 1 of Power Man and Iron Fist. I loved that comic, and I’m grateful that Marvel is paying some attention to me.
It’s just that…they spelled my website wrong!
It’s HenchmAn4Hire.com, Marvel! C’mon! I don’t ask for much! Heck, I don’t ask you for anything. I provide these positive reviews free of charge, and am giddy as a school girl that I’m getting recognized. But the least you can do is spell my website right.
I don’t get any warning or alert or notification when Marvel blurbs one of my reviews. I have discovered the Spider-Woman blurb and this new Power Man and Iron Fist blurb purely by chance, because I bought the tpbs. I could be on other tpb covers for all I know! So everybody go check any recent Marvel Comics graphic novels you’ve bought and see if I’m on any more!
Now to get the writers to sign my copies…

6 Thoughts on the Second Season of Luke Cage
Despite a big dip in quality, and despite Disney planning its own streaming service before too long, the Netflix Defenders shows are still going and we got the second season of Luke Cage this past weekend! Seeing as how I’m never going to quit these shows, I binged the whole season over the past few days and want to share my thoughts. Largely, I liked it!
TV Rating: 7/10 – Good.
The second season of Luke Cage was a definite upswing from the past few disappointing seasons of the Netflix Defenders shows. It was a solid, enjoyable season with some standout moments and episodes — though not nearly as many as I would have liked. I definitely echo what pretty much every other critic says about these shows: 13 episodes is way too many. Not a single one of these shows has produced a season-long storyline that requires all 13 episodes. It’s weird why they keep trying. Do they really not have any other tricks up their sleeves? Like some entertaining one-off episodes or something?
Regardless, I liked the second season of Luke Cage. Join me after the jump for my full review! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the entire season.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/4/17
I’m surprised they don’t have an issue of Mighty Thor on the stands this week. The big #700 issue dropped two weeks ago, but the big Thor: Ragnarok movie event is this weekend! And it’s a great movie! A ton of fun! I’ll be sharing my thoughts on Wednesday.
For now, how about a couple of comics? It was a very light week for me this week, with new issues of Iceman and Iron Fist, alongside the newly returned Captain America. Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman for another stellar issue in Tom King’s ongoing Catwoman romance storyline.
I gave Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man one more chance this week, with the highly publicized issue of Spidey sitting down for an interview with longtime nemesis J. Jonah Jameson — but it didn’t work for me. The concept is interesting, but it doesn’t belong in this series at this moment.
Brian Michael Bendis will always have the definitive confrontation between the two characters in Ultimate Spider-Man. But too much weird stuff has gone on between the two characters in the 616 universe, a lot of which is referenced in the new issue, to make the confrontation as meaningful as it should be.
Comic Reviews: Batman #34, Captain American #695, Iceman #7 and Iron First #74.
6 Thoughts on The Defenders
Get ready for a lot of rants. That’s what I was doing by the time the end credits rolled for the final episode of The Defenders. This show was a huge letdown. Or maybe my expectations were too high. I was expecting something damn near as good as The Avengers. I was expecting something as good as the Daredevil TV show. I was expecting TV greatness! Instead, The Defenders is TV okayness.

TV Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good.
Oddly enough, nobody is talking about The Defenders anymore. The show is barely more than a week old, and was highly anticipated, but there’s been utter silence since that debut weekend. It doesn’t help that, the weekend after, we had this big Game of Thrones season finale. I’ve been hearing more and more anti-binge washing talks since releasing a show all at once has people talking about it just that once, but go back to a weekly schedule, like Game of Thrones, and people are talking about it all summer.
Maybe Netflix should switch to that model. Either way, join me after the jump for my thoughts on The Defenders TV show! And beware of SPOILERS!
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/5/17
Kind of a quiet week for comics this week. There were a lot of good releases, but not many on my normal review pile. In any other situation, this might prompt me to try out some new comics. But nope! I’m a bit too lazy for that!
Instead, we’ve got new and entertaining issues of Batman, Iron Fist and Hawkeye, as well as Unstoppable Wasp, the adorable and awesome Comic Book of the Week!
I’m serious, it’s mostly adorable and awesome.
After a great pair of issues focusing on Janet Van Dyne, I kind of want this title changed to The Unstoppable Wasp and the Regular Wasp! Or writer Jeremy Whitley should get a Janet Van Dyne comic!
Comic Reviews: Batman #28, Hawkeye #9, Iron Fist #6 and Unstoppable Wasp #8.
