Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/9/17
Wanna know a neat trick to make someone not feel like reading and reviewing a bunch of comics? Send him on vacation with a head cold! That’s me, ladies and gentlemen! Ugh. But I did read some comics and I’m going to review a couple of them, because I’m dedicated!
I read a couple of comics and they were all really good, like the new Batman and Hawkeye. But I think I’m going to give Comic Book of the Week to Iceman again, because it’s a really good comic. He fights the Juggernaut!
Beyond that, the new season of BoJack Horseman started, and that’s largely what I’m doing this weekend!
Comic Reviews: Batman #30, Hawkeye #10 and Iceman #5.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/5/17
Kind of a quiet week for comics this week. There were a lot of good releases, but not many on my normal review pile. In any other situation, this might prompt me to try out some new comics. But nope! I’m a bit too lazy for that!
Instead, we’ve got new and entertaining issues of Batman, Iron Fist and Hawkeye, as well as Unstoppable Wasp, the adorable and awesome Comic Book of the Week!
I’m serious, it’s mostly adorable and awesome.
After a great pair of issues focusing on Janet Van Dyne, I kind of want this title changed to The Unstoppable Wasp and the Regular Wasp! Or writer Jeremy Whitley should get a Janet Van Dyne comic!
Comic Reviews: Batman #28, Hawkeye #9, Iron Fist #6 and Unstoppable Wasp #8.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/8/17
Oh man oh man! Spider-Man: Homecoming! I’m writing this opening paragraph before seeing Spider-Man: Homecoming and I don’t have time to update it with my thoughts on the film. I’m hoping I liked the movie! And I hope you henchies like it too!
Kind of a light week on comics this week, but it’s giving me time to catch up on some titles where I fell behind. So check out new reviews for Iron Fist and Unstoppable Wasp! The latter of which wins Comic Book of the Week for a really nice issue focusing on the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne!
I think this is the most I’ve ever cared about Janet Van Dyne. Not to say she’s not a great character, she’s just never been one of my beloved characters. But this issue does a great job with her and Nadia!
Comic Reviews: Batman #26, Harley Quinn #23, Hawkeye #8, Iron Fist #5 and Unstoppable Wasp #7.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/10/17
Good news, everybody! My time is my own again and the bonus Wednesday is out of the way, so I’m back to buying and reading an entire pile of comics! But bad news, too! Because as has been the case with me and comics, all of my favorite comics come out in one week, and there’s no way I can get to them all.
So this week sees new issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Batman, Hawkeye and Nova! But I had to pass on new issues of Harley Quinn and Unstoppable Wasp, just for time! Fortunately, I made room for the Comic Book of the Week: Iceman #1! He’s my favorite
X-Man and he’s finally got a solid solo comic!
Speaking of comics I read but didn’t review, the new issue of Harley Quinn is pretty nifty! We learn the secret origin of Red Tool, even though I didn’t know he had a secret origin! I’m gonna do a write up on it next week in case you want the fully skinny.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #28, Batman #24, Hawkeye #7, Iceman #1 and Nova #7.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/8/17
I really need to start reading more DC Comics. This week is practically flooded with new issues of Marvel Comics, with only one showing from DC. Granted, I’ve always been more of a Marvel fan, but still! There should be a balance! I’m going to work on that.
But until then, we’ve got a wonderful pile of X-Men comics! All-New Wolverine and X-Men Gold kick off ResurrXion, for both good and ill. Iron Fist and Nova are pretty cool. And the new issue of Hawkeye wins Comic Book of the Week for a wonderful guest appearance by Jessica Jones!
Meanwhile, I’m not going to review the second issue of America, in case anyone was hoping. I really wanted to like and support this comic, but the second issue doubles down on everything I didn’t like about the first issue. It’s just too weird a comic, kind of like Shade The Changing Girl, which I also passed on reviewing. I am definitely not the intended audience, and I hope America finds the readers it’s looking for.
Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #19, Harley Quinn #17, Hawkeye #5, Iron Fist #2, Nova #5 and X-Men Gold #1.
