Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/4/25
What’s happening, party people? Got a fun stack of all DC comics this week, because they’re really putting out the bangers nowadays. So I hope you enjoy Batman and Absolute Superman!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Evil #1 for some truly legitimate surprises!
Meanwhile, I’ve barely scratched the surface of Silksong and I’m also contemplating just dropping it for Ghost of Yotei! I’m only human! But I also finally just got Mortal Kombat 1, so maybe I’ll play that to pass the time.
Also, if you live in Central New York, I’ll be going to my first comic-con since the pandemic at Uticon in Utica, NY! I’ll be selling both volumes of Gamer Girl & Vixen! So if you want a copy, now is the perfect time to come out and buy my book!
Comic Reviews: Absolute Evil #1, Absolute Superman #12, Batman #2 and Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Justice League #3.

Happy Birthday to me! Enough years have passed that my birthday once again falls on a Saturday, so I get to share some comic reviews for my birthday! And what a darn good week for comics, like Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman! Honestly, I’ve been reading way more DC books than Marvel these days…
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #1 because it’s a very strong start for the Matt Fraction run of the Caped Crusader.
Meanwhile, not doing anything special for my birthday because that’s what happens when you’re in your 40s. I bought myself a new computer, and that’s running nicely. And I splurged on some graphic novels and action figures. So feeling pretty good. And I’ll be sharing some comic book news soon enough!
Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #11, Absolute Wonder Woman #11, Amazing Spider-Man #11, Batman #1 and Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #2.

I had another busy week this week, but found time to sit and read a bunch of comics. I also found the time to catch up on some of my favorite current comics, so that was nice. And like we’ve seen a lot recently, it’s a bunch of bangers, like Superman and Ultimate Spider-Man.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Martian Manhunter because I am now on board for the weirdness, especially now that the story is developing.
Meanwhile, I continue to enjoy and take my time with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. If you’re on the fence about this one, I can promise you that it’s definitely like a classic Final Fantasy game, like the glory days of 7, 8, 9 and 10. So it’s good. I also just finished the TV Show The Studio this week with Seth Rogen on AppleTV+ and it was good! Definitely lives up to the hype it has received.
Also, it is with a heavy heart I announce the end of my half-hearted, blog-based campaign to get a comic book company to hire me to write a Street Sharks comic. Bleeding Cool says IDW has one in the works already. I truly put it no effort, but it woulda been neat. In the end, it’s my own fault for not becoming a successful enough comic book writer to make my mark in the age of 80s/90s cartoon adaptations.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Martian Manhunter #3, Absolute Wonder Woman #8, Batman #160, Superman #26 and Ultimate Spider-Man #17.

There have been some rumblings in the comicsphere about a new Marvel and DC crossover in the works, and now the word is official: It’s a Batman/Deadpool crossover! Neat. I’m all for it. I don’t think those two characters have ever crossed over before, so at least the concept will be new. And I’m always in favor of Marvel and DC working together.
So there will be two comics, one from each company, and they’ve pulled out all the stops for the creators. Marvel will go first with Deadpool/Batman with the likes of filmmaker Kevin Smith, Chip Zdarsky, Kelly Thompson, Adam Kubert, Terry Dodson, Gurihiru, Zeb Wells and Greg Capullo doing stories and artwork. So holy heck that’s a quality team. That issue will come out in September.
Then DC will produce Batman/Deadpool in November, written by Grant freakin’ Morrison, with artwork by Dan Mora, which is about as insane a team as you could ever imagine on a comic these days. I don’t even know if Morrison still writes comics? What have they been up to the past few years? And Mora is a machine!
This is all super keen!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/29/25
I’ve been noticing something weird lately…I don’t really care for Marvel Comics at the moment. All the best comics are coming out of DC. Wild. Anyway, here’s a review list that’s mostly DC Comics!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #19 for an excellent end to the first story arc, and all the teases for the next story arc. I’m quite satisfied.
Meanwhile, I’m still working my way through Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The game is everything I hoped it would be and I’m having a blast! Gonna spend a lot of time in this world. I’m currently working my way through the newest season of Invincible. Fun stuff, as expected.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Martian Manhunter #1, Absolute Wonder Woman #6, Batman #158, Power Rangers Prime #5 and Wonder Woman #19.
