Hench-Sized Comic Reviews – 9/6/25
Happy Birthday to me! Enough years have passed that my birthday once again falls on a Saturday, so I get to share some comic reviews for my birthday! And what a darn good week for comics, like Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman! Honestly, I’ve been reading way more DC books than Marvel these days…
Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #1 because it’s a very strong start for the Matt Fraction run of the Caped Crusader.
Meanwhile, not doing anything special for my birthday because that’s what happens when you’re in your 40s. I bought myself a new computer, and that’s running nicely. And I splurged on some graphic novels and action figures. So feeling pretty good. And I’ll be sharing some comic book news soon enough!
Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #11, Absolute Wonder Woman #11, Amazing Spider-Man #11, Batman #1 and Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #2.

Welp, here we are. It’s August. We all continue to trudge along in our lives. The only thing we can look forward to is new comics, like Absolute Superman!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Captain America #2 for a proper introduction of my new most anticipated character: Captain America!
Meanwhile, I continue to stretch Death Stranding 2 out as long as I can. I’m sure I could just rush to the finish, but then I don’t know how interested I am in cleaning up in the post-game. We’ll find out. I’ve been watching the second and final season of The Sandman and I dare say it continues to be a solid adaptation. I’m pleased to see that they’re actually ending the TV show like they did the comic. Should be fun.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Superman #10, Captain America #2 and Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #1.

Summer is upon us and the heat is turning up. I’ve got my air conditioner fully installed and it’s still going strong after nearly 20 years keeping me cool. This thing is a beast! And it keeps me cool to read more comics, like Imperial and Power Rangers Prime!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #8 because greatness is as greatness does, people. It’s not my fault this comic is so damn good with every single issue!
Meanwhile, I’m still in the pre-endgame of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I tend to only play video games on the weekends these days, which is a good way to stretch out games. Death Stranding 2 doesn’t come out until the end of the month, after all. Beyond that, I watched and didn’t care for The Better Sister, and I’ll hopefully spend this weekend watching that new Predator anime and the new Wes Anderson film in theaters!
Comic Reviews: Absolute Green Lantern #3, Absolute Superman #8, Imperial #1 and Power Rangers Prime #7.

Do the weeks seem longer to anybody else? I know I’m working a lot, but damn, the weekend seems to take forever. Anyway, new comics, good stuff all around, like X-Men and Spider-Man.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #7 for an awesome new origin for Brainiac.
Meanwhile, The Museum of the Uncanny Kickstarter was a success! So I will have a new short comic story entering the world sometime soon. Hopefully you all ordered your copy and will get to read it! Beyond that, I’m loving Andor, Doctor Who and The Last of Us, obviously, and continue to slowly make my way through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Fun game.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Green Lantern #2, Absolute Superman #7, Amazing Spider-Man #3 and X-Men #16.

Oh boy, what a week. This year has really been kicking me down, and I’m not even just talking about the wide world of crumbling society. It’s just been…that kind of week. Anyway, new comics keep coming out, and they main fun enough, like the start of Absolute Green Lantern.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Absolute Superman #6 for the absolute best issue so far in this already stellar series! It just keeps getting better!
Meanwhile, I’m still very much enjoying Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, as I always knew I would. Just taking my time living in this game. I watched the first season of Paradise on Hulu and found it merely OK, other than a few standout moments or episodes. And I’m currently really enjoying the first season of The Residence on Netflix, which is a murder mystery set at the White House. Highly recommended.
Comic Reviews: Absolute Green Lantern #1, Absolute Superman #6 and X-Men #14.
