Anybody Still Watching Walking Dead Stuff?

Like everybody else, I was a big fan of the Walking Dead TV show. I’ve read most of the comic book series and enjoyed that as well, but the show was really cool…until it wasn’t. I dropped off before the last two seasons, haven’t watched most of any of the spin-offs, but it’s still a quiet January and this new trailer is at least a little interesting.

It’s the first trailer for The Ones Who Live spin-off, featuring Rick Grimes and Michonne.

I’m probably not going to watch this show. But I’m still a little interested to see what becomes of Rick and Michonne. They kept him alive for some reason, and here’s that reason. This show. It was supposed to be a movie or two, but now it’s…wait…is it a show or is it a movie? I didn’t even look into it all that deeply. But it’s still coming out, and this story will still be told…but will it really matter unless we get a full Walking Dead reunion when all is said and done?

6 Thoughts on the Second Season of What If…?

I had a great holiday season, seeing family, getting presents and having a good time. The whole thing was lifted by the second season of Marvel’s What If…?, a cartoon show based on the classic comic book series, tilted now towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think it remains a great idea for a cartoon spin-off of the MCU, and the second season did not disappoint.

TV Show Rating: 8/10 – Very Good

I was always a big fan of the What If…? comics and read more than a few in my day. It’s just a fun idea, and it’s just as fun when applied to the MCU. That makes the episodes a little more limiting, since they don’t have access to the full Marvel comics universe. But when there’s only 10 or so episodes a season, they’ve got more than enough material to play around with.

Join me after the jump for my thoughts and full review of the second season of What If…? Expect SOME SPOILERS for the season. And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments below.

Our First Look at the Second Season of Arcane!

Arcane: League of Legends came out of nowhere a few years ago and was an awesome-as-hell show! And thankfully, the wait for a second season is almost over because, I believe, it might be coming out later this year! Woohoo! And to herald that second season, here is a short teaser of a clip.

Who is that giant monster? It’s probably Vander, the father figure character from the first batch of episodes. There were apparently hints that he might still be alive in that mad scientist’s lab, and he’d make a fearsome foe in season two. Personally, I’m not a fan of bringing him back. Let the past stay in the past and let our main characters move forward on their own. But I trust the creators to make an awesome season 2.

And like that video says, it comes out in November!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/6/24

Happy New Year, everybody! It’s 2024 and all is still pretty crappy with the world. It’s hopefully going to be a good year for me in terms of making comics. I’ve got some fun announcements coming up in that regard! But for now, let’s deal with normal comics, like Batman, Fantastic Four and the start of the Fall of the House of X.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Birds of Prey #5 for another fun story chapter, even if the change in art is very, very jarring.

What did the five fingers say to the face?

Meanwhile, I’m still meandering my way through Project Zomboid, which taps into my love of pedantry in video games. I just finished off the new season of Rick and Morty, and that was a hoot! And this weekend I’m binging Carol and the End of the World on Netflix. I’ve got high hopes for this show.

Comic Reviews: Batman #141, Birds of Prey #5, Captain America #5, Fall of the House of X #1 and Fantastic Four #15.

Echo is Looking Pretty Fierce

Everybody thought Echo wasn’t going to be much of anything. Marvel is dropping all 5 episodes at the same time next Tuesday, and many took that as a sign that Marvel wanted to get rid of this show as soon as possible. But honestly, they’ve been doing a great job with promoting how badass Echo might be.

Check out this new trailer, which obviously focuses on Kingpin, but it’s still good.

And then we’ve got a behind-the-scenes featurette on how they incorporated Echo’s Native American heritage, which is cool.

I’m a fan of almost everything the MCU puts out, so I’m very much looking forward to binging Echo next week. Hopefully it lives up to the awesomeness of these promotional trailers. Keep the hope alive, everybody! Hold on to that feeling!

All 5 episodes of Echo come out on Disney+ on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
