The Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Finally Gets Official Release

I was waiting for this all day: the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer has finally, officially been released by DC Comics and Warner Bros. I watched the crappy leaked trailer last night, like everybody else, but I didn’t want to post the crappy version. I knew the big wigs would eventually relent and release the full trailer. It was only a matter of time – though I wish they’d done it much earlier in the day. But nonetheless, check out the full, official, quality trailer.

And despair.

Seriously, wow, this is a grim movie trailer. And I don’t think I like it – though I definitely like the HD version better than the crappy cell phone version that leaked the other night. Clarity does make for a better movie trailer.

And by all means, if you love the trailer, more power to you. I’m not saying it can’t be loved, but so far, it’s just not for me. It’s dark, joyless and exactly the sort of ‘extreme’ that I was afraid might happen. I didn’t like Man of Steel, and not because Superman was out of character or because of the wanton destruction. I didn’t care about that. I didn’t like Man of Steel because it was a poorly made movie. But I kept my hopes up for Batman v. Superman. Heck, I still kind of have my hopes up. You better believe I’m going to see it opening night. And Batman looks pretty damn awesome in this HD trailer.

But after the utter joyful euphoria of the Age of Ultron and Ant-Man trailers, after the glee of The Force Awakens trailer, this Batman v. Superman movie could stand to lighten up a little bit.

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Confirms Today is Chewbacca Day!

Now this is some sweet, sweet movie trailering. If you thought that first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer was good, then you ain’t seen nothing yet! Instead, you should see this, and prepare your squee effects.

Oh yes, that was good. That was damn good. Though I think the new characters were a little overshadowed by a certain pair of cameos at the very end. Seriously, kudos to Harrison Ford for being game to do this movie, because he’s going to make the whole thing worth it.

Beyond his cameo at the end, I think this movie is a little slicker than your average Star Wars movie. It looks like Star Wars by way of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movies. This trailer looked slick, action-packed and just the right amount of wild, but with classic Star Wars spaceships. I can’t tell yet if that’s good or bad.

But I do know that The Force Awakens looks pretty darn awesome.

There is Beauty Everywhere, Especially on the Internet

This video, right here, is why I Internet. It’s why I feel that hope and freedom need to be the defining factors of our world. The video, of course, is a parody of the Louie opening theme starring Chewbacca. Because ‘Louie’ rhymes with ‘Chewie’.

You watch Louie, right?

Thanks to the Nerdist for making this pun and following it through to its only natural conclusion. The world is a better place.

6 Thoughts on the First Season of Daredevil

Like most comic book geeks, I binge-watched the new Daredevil TV show on Netflix this past weekend and loved it. The action, the acting, the storytelling, the superheroics all came together for an amazing show, just like we all hoped it would be. And Daredevil is just the beginning of Marvel’s foray into prestige television, with several more Netflix shows lined up. I couldn’t be happier that Marvel is doing for TV what they did for movies.

And, I suppose, what they did for comics…

In lieu of an episode-by-episode review or anything more substantial, I’ve decided to devote this week’s List of Six to my thoughts on the season. I’ve been doing similar lists for the other superhero TV shows, with Arrow, Flash and Agents of SHIELD coming later this spring.

So join me after the jump for my rambling, ramshackle review of the first season of Daredevil! I will try to keep SPOILERS to a minimum, but no promises.

Game of Thrones Wish Fulfillment is Back!

Does everybody remember this awesome and hilarious video, where Game of Thrones does everything we want and nobody dies a horrible, sad death? I sure do. Man, those were good times. Well the fine folks at College Humor are back with a second video! Warning, there are SPOILERS up through Season 4!

I will always approve of such silliness. Season 5 is off to a good, if somewhat slow start. Here’s hoping for more adventure and excitement on the horizon.
