Just a Cool Song I’ve Been Jamming To

Hey henchies, do you remember legolambs? They’re a pretty fantastic bunch of Youtubers who make big, awesome songs about popular movies from the ’80s and those famous action stars. They did Predator, Conan, Aliens, and many more. Go watch their videos!

Well I re-stumbled upon them the other day and found a new song that I love about a war between Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain!

This is what the Internet is all about. I love songs and awesomeness and I think you should join in!

6 Suicide Squad Sequel Recruits

Despite the negative reviews that are already flooding onto the Internet, I’m still excited for Suicide Squad this weekend. It’s an exciting cast of crazy comic book characters and some potentially electric comedy and action. Or maybe it’ll be a stinker. I dunno. I’m not a psychic! But I am going to predict Suicide Squad will at least get a sequel!

The calm before the crappy movie storm

If it doesn’t get a sequel, then this list will be worthless. But I’m going to power ahead anyway and still buy my ticket tomorrow night. I like playing with comic book characters and I like pretending somebody cares about my thoughts on big time Hollywood movies. That’s a dangerous combination any day of the week, but it’s doubly crazy here on the Internet. If I’m not careful, I might cast the entire DCCU while I’m at it!

Feel free to share some of your potential sequel recruits in the comments!

Quentin Tarantino’s Suicide Squad

At long last, Suicide Squad comes out this week, and I am excited! It looks good, seems funny, and this has been an otherwise lukewarm movie season. And speaking of Suicide Squad, how about a nice parody on Youtube?

Produced by Loot Crate Productions, these is a pretty nifty little video. Good way to start a Monday!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/30/16

I was looking over my pile of comics this week to pick out what to review, and I was struck by a really cool realization: most of the comics in my pile star women! There was once a time, not too long ago, when female-led comics were few and far between. Oh how far we’ve come. So in honor of the first ever female major party candidate for U.S. President, this Hench-Sized Comic Book Review pile is dedicated to awesome superhero ladies!

We’ve got your Batgirl, your Harley Quinn, your Pink Power Ranger, your Wonder Woman, your Squirrel Girl, your Ms. Marvel; just a cavalcade of awesome female superheroes! And each and every issue is a blast! I feel almost guilty for all the good grades I’ve given everybody.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batgirl #1, though it’s a hard choice to make. Most of the comics are mid-storyline, whereas the new Batgirl Rebirth relaunch nails the beginning and promises a nice new series.

Here’s one version of Batgirl ready to kick butt

As for some of my other regular titles, Detective Comics is great, with more Tim Drake awesomeness. The first issue of Nightwing Rebirth is solid, but leans too heavily on some dumb new antagonist. And the new issue of Civil War II is a solid reminder about why I should stop caring. I also read the new Captain Marvel, but it was kind of lame, so it didn’t make the cut for my all-women week.

Comic Reviews: Batgirl #1, Harley Quinn #30, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers – Pink #2, Mighty Thor #9, Ms. Marvel #9, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #10 and Wonder Woman #3.

Our First Look at Superman in The Arrowverse is Pretty Cool

Superman will appear in the new season of Supergirl, marking the first time in all these years that one of the big DC Trinity has been allowed to appear in the Arrowverse. Normally, DC refuses to let their major movie characters appear on their TV shows, no matter how awesome it would be. Could this be a sign that Wonder Woman and Batman (and Robin) might get to show up somewhere down the line? I hope so!

So much lens flare

That is actor Tyler Hoechlin as Supes. I’m not familiar with him, but I’d say he looks the part. And the costume works too! It’s a great Superman adaptation to the Arrowverse. One hopes that Robin’s eventual costume looks just as cool!
