What Does Woody Harrelson Have Against Apes All of a Sudden?

I’m a big fan of the modern Planet of the Apes movies. They’ve been good and hugely entertaining. So definitely sign me up for the latest one this summer. War for the Planet of the Apes.

But it’s a little weird that the mighty ape king, Caesar, keeps going up against a new human adversary each movie. I suppose it would be even weirder if he fought the same human each time. But still, Woody Harrelson just seems to pop into the franchise with this film.

With everything else in the world coming to an end, why devote any of your resources to trying to go kill a bunch of apes?

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets Walks a Weird Tightrope

I don’t know if you’ve heard about this movie, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Based on the trailer, it looks like it’s going to be pretty insane.

Normally, I’d write this movie off as too insane. Like another Jupiter Ascending, it just looks like more crazy space nonsense.

But! It’s directed by Luc Besson, the genius behind The Fifth Element! From the outside, The Fifth Element also looks like crazy space nonsense, but obviously its one of the greatest movies of all time. So can he make lightning strike twice? Can he make another amazing space nonsense movie?

Also, is anyone else a little confused why ‘Valerian’ gets his name in the title, while his female partner, Laureline, seems just as much a star? Just sayin’.

6 Things I Want to See in a Venom Movie

Out of the blue, Sony announced a premiere date for their long-in-gestation Venom movie. They’ve even classified it as a ‘sci-fi/horror’ movie and plan to start production in the Fall. Maybe they’re actually going to go through with it, or maybe it’s all just smoke and mirrors to make Sony’s movie division look better for an upcoming sale. Whatever the case may be, it’s perfect for wild blog speculation!

Venom Movie List 01

He’s just a pawn in someone else’s game

I’m as much of a Venom fan as the next person. I love the living costume idea. I loved the Lethal Protector phase back in the 90s. Heck, I even love a bunch of the minor spin-off symbiotes. And considering Sony is now partnering with Marvel for their Spider-Man properties, I would be thrilled if this Venom movie is real and ties into Spider-Man: Homecoming!

So join me after the jump for my ideas on what we should see in a Venom movie! And I’d love to hear your own ideas in the comments!

Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer Full of Movie Stuff

I don’t know what it is yet — and it better not be superhero fatigue — but I remain merely whelmed when it comes to these Spider-Man: Homecoming trailers.

This looks great. There’s no denying that. I definitely like Tom Holland as Spider-Man. I like the stuff with Iron Man. I like the civilian stuff we’re seeing with Peter Parker at school. And I like the look of the Vulture here. Michael Keaton is going to be great, hopefully.

But just in general, overall, I’m just OK with the trailers we’ve seen so far. And OK is fine. I’m still going to see the movie opening night and probably love it — hopefully love it.

Heck, I loved both Amazing Spider-Man movies, so maybe I’m not one to talk…

The Green Ranger is Real!

The new Power Rangers movie is out in theaters and I loved it! Great film, a ton of fun and hopefully it’s going to lead to a lot of sequels. Consider me on board for them all!

And like any Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan worth his salt, I fully expect the sequels to include the Green Power Ranger, inarguably the best Power Ranger of all time.

Green Ranger is best ranger

Would you like to hear how the movie incorporates the Green Ranger? I’m sorry if you consider this a spoiler, but there was no way they were going to make this franchise without including him. As a big fan, I can’t wait to see him on the big screen.

But just in case this is considered SPOILERS, join me after the jump for how the movie uses the Green Power Ranger!
