The 6 Best Loser Teams in Comics

Want a little peek into the mind of creating weekly geeky listicles? So there I was putting together a list of comic book clowns based on the movie It, since I watched it and enjoyed it this month, and everybody loves comic book clowns. But as I was writing an intro — just like this one — I started talking up the awesomeness of The Losers Club. Those kids were the best part of the movie!

Loser Club List 01

Danger things

Granted, the kids themselves weren’t losers, they were pretty great. But it got me thinking about all the best loser clubs in comics! Not every super team can be the Justice League or even the Legion of Doom. Sometimes we get purposefully silly teams of losers who are too pathetic to amount to much! And I tend to love all those teams! They’re too pathetic and adorable not to love!

Join me after the jump for the best, most endearing teams of super losers in comics!

Big Tim Drake News This Week!

Finally, at long last, Tim Drake is going to return to comics after his fake-out…was it earlier this year? Last year? I don’t remember. Either way, there’s going to be some big Tim Drake news and re-retcons in this week’s issue of Detective Comics! Check out this preview and interview with writer James Tynion IV!

I’ll be back after the issue drops to share all the great news! I just wanted to prepare everybody in the world of comics for this great week.

Hench-Sized Comic Reviews – 9/23/17

Big news, everybody! This week, we have an abundance of DC Comics! I’ve been trying to read more of them lately, despite being a confirmed Marvel Zombie. And this week, the stars aligned and more of my DC comics came out than Marvel! Huzzah and kudos!

So we’ve got new Harley Quinn, new Aquaman, new Batwoman, new Wild Storm and the Comic Book of the Week, the new Batman! This whole War of Jokes and Riddles has been worth it for what writer Tom King is doing with Kite Man.

Kite Man Rules 02

We’re talking kites

Hell yeah.

Comic Reviews: Aquaman #28, Batman #31, Batwoman #7, Harley Quinn #28, Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #4 and The Wild Storm #7.

There’s Gonna Be a New Tomb Raider Movie

I don’t think I ever watched the original Tomb Raider movies with Angelina Jolie. In all honesty, I never played the original Tomb Raider video games either. Maybe a little bit, here or there. It was just never part of my video game lexicon.

At least not until the most recent video game reboot, which actually seems to have inspired the new movies.

The two newest games — Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider — are really fun games! They’re very cinematic and involve a lot of extreme stunts, with a really scrappy vibe to them. This isn’t the cool and in charge Lara Croft, guns blazing. This is a Lara who gets into the muck and the blood as she struggles to survive in a harsh landscape against harsher bad guys.

The only problem I have with the games is that the stories aren’t very nuanced. Lara is good and the bad guys are just generically evil, one-dimensional villains who always seem to be 10 steps ahead of her until she finally scrapes out a win.

I like the games and I like the look of the movie.

First Trailer for Isle of Dogs, Wes Anderson’s New Film

Holy crap, this looks amazing. I don’t know about you henchies, but I am a huuuuge Wes Anderson fan! He’s probably my favorite director. And he’s got a new stop motion animated film coming out on March 23 called Isle of Dogs. This is the first I’m hearing about it, and we’ve got an amazing new trailer!

Holy cow that looks good. Fantastic Mr. Fox, his last stop motion movie, is a masterpiece. And Isle of Dogs looks damn good from the first trailer! I love having a new Wes Anderson movie to look forward to!
