Steamed Hams, but Also Take On Me
I love a good Simpsons meme, especially the bit where the internet keeps remaking the Skinner/Chalmers steamed hams bit. It’s just so wonderfully chaotic. I shared this awesome LEGO version a month ago. And just the other day, I stumbled upon this version where YouTuber bad puns animates it into the classic A-ha music video for “Take On Me”.
Absurdist humor is a great kind of humor! The animation looks gorgeous, the music is as catchy as ever, and the steamed hams bit never gets old. What an age we live in.
No wait, the age we live in is terrible! Somebody free me from this quarantine nightmare!

Drawfee is a Fun Thing!
Have you ever watched Drawfree? It’s this funny and charming drawing show/Twitch stream/a bunch of other stuff that I’ve been watching for a while now. And they’ve just announced that they’ve finally gone fully independent! And could therefore use more viewers!
Here’s a taste of their style.
So basically, Drawfee was created as part of College Humor that developed into a group of four artists who get together and do drawing challenges while bantering and having a good time. It’s a fun watch. Here’s their channel with just a metric ton of old episodes to watch.
Then College Humor went belly up in January and the Drawfee bunch has been flapping in the wind for months now, especially in light of the pandemic. Now it seems they’ve finally got some solid ground underneath them.
I’m just letting you readers know because I like sharing cool internet things, and the Drawfee bunch is definitely that sort of thing. And don’t we all need more and more entertaining YouTube channels to just lose ourselves in for hours upon end? Isn’t that what your lockdown is like too?

Happy Fourth of July! (I’ve Got Nothing)
Sorry folks, no comic book reviews this week. Both Marvel and DC essentially took the week off on new releases, and anything that did come out was not on my read list. And as much fun as it probably would have been, I just didn’t feel like scrambling through all six issues of Hawkeye: FreeFall.
I’m also sitting pretty on a 4-day weekend this American holiday and just didn’t feel like tracking down anything else to read and review. So I got nothing on this fine Saturday!
I did discover Girlfriend Reviews on YouTube last night and they’ve been pretty fun to watch. In fact, their latest issue sums up rather nicely everything I loved about The Last of Us Part 2. MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS VIDEO!
I’m going to have my review/thoughts on The Last of Us Part 2 next Wednesday, so stay tuned for that! And I should have some new Gamer Girl & Vixen content in the week ahead. So next week should be pretty fun for everybody!
It’s just that today isn’t going to be all that great. But hey, Happy Fourth of July!

The Old Guard is Coming
I’ve never read The Old Guard, a comic by Greg Rucka about an immortal race of ass-kickers. But the movie adaptation is coming to Netflix in a week!
As someone who loves watching movies, I’m glad at least something is coming out during this global pandemic. I have to hope this’ll be good. Or at least fun. Charlize Theron is always a hoot. So let’s give The Old Guard a try!

6 Thoughts on the Second Season of Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn is the best DC animated series since Justice League Unlimited. That’s not hyperbole. I know people enjoy the deep bench of Young Justice, and I’m sure those non-BTAS cartoons have their fans, but none of them are the complete masterpiece that is Harley Quinn.
TV Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic!
I have loved this show from the first minutes of the first episode. Harley Quinn burst to life with sharp humor, hilarious violence and a chef’s kiss perfect use of raunch. I loved Season 1, and Season 2 is just as good, if not better. Even though the two seasons were written and produced back-to-back, Season 2 shows a clear confidence that raises this cartoon to new heights. This is a show unafraid to mess with the status quo, while also displaying a deep and loving adoration for all of DC canon.
It’s also a show that knows exactly the story it wants to tell and uses its time, its pacing and its writing to tell that story masterfully. Join me after the jump for my thoughts on the second season of Harley Quinn! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the entire show.
