These ThunderCats Look Neato

The internet being what it is, here’s a re-animated, HD remake of the ThunderCats intro song. Apparently, YouTube creator extremee_ghost just gave themselves a project and spent two months redrawing every single frame. It’s a thing of beauty.

This is one of the good parts of the internet. All creative and fun and geeky and just awesome. And I love sharing that kind of stuff with you fine readers. Kudos to this creator for his fine works.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 1/8/22

I’d like to start this comic review article by saying that any criticism or nitpicking I may engage in is not directed at the creators personally. Attacking creators is an abhorrent thing, and unbecoming a reasonable human being. It’s dumb as hell, and I do hope nobody reading these reviews thinks my criticisms are directed at creators. I won’t stand for it on my dumb blog. So as I nitpick the likes of Amazing Spider-Man, Superman and even Thor, none of that is a personal attack on the writers, artists, letterers or any other people involved in making the comic.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #119, but mostly for the really fun Maps Mizoguchi back-up feature. The main Batman story is good too, but this might be the official start of my “Maps as the new Robin” campaign.

The future is soon

Meanwhile, Book of Boba Fett remains fun, though I’m a little disappointed that it’s been mostly flashback so far. I watched Only Murders in the Building on Hulu and enjoyed it a lot. I even managed to guess the killer right early on! That never happens! I watched new Aggrestsuko, Letterkenny and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I’m burning through TV show catch-ups at the moment and having a nice time with it.

Comic Reviews: The Amazing Spider-Man #84, Batman #119, Dark Knights of Steel #3, Inferno #4, One-Star Squadron #2, Superman: Son of Kal-El #6, Thor #20 and X-Men #6.

Moonfall Looks Like a Fun Flick

We are in the movie doldrums of January and February, so we need to take what we can get in terms of big screen entertainment. Fortunately, the new disaster action film Moonfall actually looks rather fun! Here’s the first full trailer.

I’m in. This looks like it’s taken the classic action movies of old and turned the dial so far that we’re now in self-parody. And I’m fine with that! We get a big, crazy action film, and a bit of self-aware humor. Sounds like a winning combination for a bad February action film to me. Moonfall is written and directed by Roland Emmerich, and that’s not terrible. Plus, it’s nice to see John Bradley getting work after Game of Thrones.

Moonfall arrives in theaters on Feb. 4!

6 Thoughts on the First Season of Hawkeye

I’m a couple of weeks late with this list, but time and the holidays make fools of us all. The first season of the Hawkeye TV show on Disney+ came and went and it was an utter delight! Marvel Studios is doing a wonderful job adapting their movie characters into TV shows, and I have enjoyed every one — especially Hawkeye. From just liking Clint Barton on the big screen, to looking forward to the introduction of Kate Bishop, I had high hopes for the Hawkeye show from the very beginning. And it lived up to the hype and then some.

TV Rating: 9/10 – Great.

I will admit that these Marvel shows aren’t all grand and wonderful television. There are shows that are more dramatic and engaging, shows that are more inventive. But in terms of creating enjoyable TV shows out of MCU characters and properties, these Disney+ shows — and especially Hawkeye — are doing a great job. They’re hugely fun, very entertaining, and use the characters in fun and cool ways. I think Marvel Studios is nailing it in their quest to expand onto the small screen, and I really look forward to the movies and shows interacting and intersecting even more. The pandemic pumped the brakes on that, but it’s only a matter of time.

Join me after the jump for my full thoughts/review of the Hawkeye TV show. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the show! And feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments!

The Peacemaker TV Show Looks Dope

The Peacemaker TV show is coming out in a week, and it looks cool as heck! I loved The Suicide Squad on the big screen, and knowing that James Gunn produced this spin-off show means great things. So enjoy this new trailer.

This show just looks bigger and weirder and funnier with each passing trailer. Will it live up to its own hype? Only time will tell…time being next week! Peacemaker comes to HBO Max on Jan. 13.
