As Expected, There’s Going to Be More Rick and Morty

We all love Rick and Morty. It’s a great show, and still funny after all these years. And what more is there to say? Rick and Morty is an institution at this point, and it’s just delightful that we’ll be getting more episodes soon!

I mean, it all looks great. I’ve no doubt that the creative team are going to knock another season out of the park. And we can all watch that happen with our eyeballs.

Wow, I am just not finding much to say about the existence of another season of Rick and Morty. I’m gonna watch, and I’m gonna love every episode. Let’s just leave it at that.

Rick and Morty returns on Sept. 4, just in time for my birthday. I’m not 40 yet.

6 Things I Want to See From DC’s New 10-Year Plan

Last week saw major waves in the world of superhero entertainment when Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav struck down the already completed Batgirl movie, refusing to even let it air on HBO Max. I was disappointed, because I would have gladly watched a Batgirl movie, even if I didn’t have high hopes. Then immediately after the cancellation, Zaslav announced a bold 10-year plan for DC properties moving forward, with him expecting to turn all DC superhero movies into blockbusters.

Peacemaker reboot incoming

Now that the dust has settled, I’ve decided to share my thoughts, hopes and dreams on this 10-year plan. I am an avowed Marvel fanboy. I still love everything Marvel Studios is putting out and I’m not experiencing that superhero fatigue at all. I’m still in awe that all these comic book characters are getting these great shows and movies. I’m open to liking DC stuff, but Zack Snyder’s visions definitely didn’t work on me in the long run. This new 10-year plan could mean all sorts of different things going forward.

Join me after the jump for my ideas for this 10-year plan and what I hope to see happen. And please feel free to share your own hopes and dreams for DC in the comments.

Maggott Finally Got the Starring Role He Deserves

Everything is coming up Maggott! Not only does he have a Marvel Legends action figure, but everyone’s favorite creepy, crawly mutant has finally been given the comic book he’s always deserved. It just happens that you’ll have to do some digging to read the story by Alex Paknadel and Julian Shaw.

Gotta get everybody up to speed

With a lot of X-Men comics jumping into the Judgement Day crossover (which I’m not reading yet), I decided to finally get caught up on X-Men Unlimited: Infinity I got to enjoy the wrap up to Jason Loo’s Multiple Man and Strong Guy story (it was great!), and I finally read the multi-part Maggott comic. I knew it existed, but I just kept putting it off. I’m glad I finally got around to reading the story because it’s great!

Maggott knows his role

I won’t spoil the story because everyone should go read it. But basically, Maggott gets to be the main character in a story that is specifically about him, while also keeping him squarely among the X-Men on Krakoa. So it’s not like he goes off and does something on his own. The story also has some interesting implications for Krakoa, that haven’t been explored just yet. So that’s neat!

Maggott is a hugely underrated characters and he’s one of my favorite X-Men/mutants. I’m glad he’s finally got a story all his own. Honestly, X-Men Unlimited: Infinity is the place to go these days. It’s the X-Men series I’ve wanted since the start of Krakoa. Creators coming on to take some minor mutants and give them adventures. There was the Multiple Man and Strong Guy adventure, which rocked. There was a Banshee story where he reconnects with Black Tom and Siryn. I think Lila Cheney got a story. Nature Girl has been on a whole eco-terrorist thing.

If only these were normal comics and not written and drawn in that scroll down web-comic style that I just don’t like. Oh well. It’s just going to take a little more work to enjoy comics this good.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/6/22

What a time to be alive. So many movies, TV shows, comics and video games are coming out these days. It’s a helluva time to be a fan! We’ve got new issues of Mighty Morphin, Poison Ivy and a bunch of X-Men comics this week!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #126 because I am loving Chip Zdarsky’s Batman run so far. It’s just some really strong Batman comic bookery.

Yeah, that sums it up nicely

Meanwhile, I fear I might be losing half the X-Men comics I’m reading for a couple of months. I still haven’t gone back and read Judgement Day, and a lot of books this week are tie-ins. I just…don’t…care. Maybe I’ll find some time coming up and judge binge a bunch of comics to get caught up. Is Judgement Day any good so far?

Comic Reviews: Batman #126, Legion of X #4, Mighty Morphin #22 and Poison Ivy #3.

Let’s Take Another Look at Pokemon Violet and Scarlet

We’ve seen a ton so far for the upcoming Scarlet and Violet games, due out in November. It’s going to be an open world RPG — which I love — and will have a lot in common with Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which I also enjoyed. Well yesterday gave us even more information, including the stupid new game-specific transformation system.

This looks great! It’s like Arceus, but an actual normal Pokemon game. So all those theories that Arceus was a testing ground are proving correct. So I’m quite thrilled. An open world Pokemon RPG with more detail and world than ever before? Hecks to the yes!

Here’s a video that explains everything more in depth.

So I think I’m definitely going with Violet. Look at those two legendary pokemon. Why the hell does the scarlet one have wheels on its body if it’s going to run everywhere? It looks dumb as hell! It’s got those big wheels just sticking out of its body on both ends, then has to awkwardly run with its legs on either side of the wheels. Meanwhile, the violent one is just straight transforming into motorcycles and rocket ships. Hells yeah.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet still look pretty great. And now that I own a Switch, this is probably a Day One buy for me when it comes out on Nov. 18. I’ll have something to talk to the cousins about at Thanksgiving.
