Our First Look at Glass Onion, the Knives Out Sequel
We’ve finally got a trailer for Glass Onion, the sequel to the exceptionally good murder mystery Knives Out from a couple of years ago. That movie was such a success that writer/director Rian Johnson is going to do a whole bunch of Benoit Blanc mysteries, thanks to some generous funding from Netflix. I am totally on board with this!
The trailer looks great! Very stylish, and with a great cast of characters. It’s a shame that Blanc will no longer have his various sidekicks from the first movie, because his chemistry with Ana de Armas was magical. But such is the life of a wandering super detective!
Glass Onion comes to Netflix later this year!

The Top 6 Superheroes I Want to Write
Time to give myself a blog birthday present! Yesterday was my birthday, and I shared with everyone the exciting news that I’ve finally started work on a new, self-published (for now) comic book project, Cover Bard. I can’t wait to get this comic up and running! Of course, the ultimate goal for a fella like me is to use this indie comic career to get hired to write superhero comics for Marvel and/or DC. So how about a List of Six of the exciting superheroes I’m hoping to write for someday?
I have fully come to accept that my dream might never happen. I’m not a spring chicken anymore, for one thing. And I’m not at all convinced that I’m such a god among writers that I need to be published. I’m just gonna tell stories and make indie comics and hopefully, someday, I’ll get that invite to write for the pros. No harm in dreaming. And should that day come, I know exactly what characters I’ll pitch for. I’ve got some ideas jotted down already, and other characters I would just love to write.
Join me after the jump for the random smattering of comic book superheroes I hope to write professionally someday. Getting my name in the credits of any of these comics would be a lifelong dream fulfilled!

Happy Birthday to me! Not yet, of course. It won’t be until Tuesday — and I’ve got a big announcement to make! — but this is the comics review column ahead of my birthday, so why not say something? Life is fun that way. And comics were fun this week! Including the launch of a new Thunderbolts and another great issue of The Variants.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Ant-Man #2 for how much fun this anniversary series has been, really reaching back into the past and capturing the era-specific magic of guys like Eric O’Grady in his heyday.
Meanwhile, I’m deep into Total War: Warhammer 3 these days, loving the new factions and the giant map. Glad to finally be playing Immortal Empires! I’ve also gotten around to watching Paper Girls on Amazon Prime and it is a real letdown. It feels like an early 2000s Nickelodeon take on the material.
Comic Reviews: Ant-Man #2, Thunderbolts #1 and The Variants #3.

LEGO is trying out a new thing called the Minifigure Factory, where you can custom-design and buy your own LEGO mini-figures. It’s only in the Beta right now, and I don’t think it’s open to everybody. I got an invite in a recent LEGO newsletter and for sure I was going to try it out! They only had some limited design options, but I managed to make a pretty good version of myself.
They got the design of the shirts I wear, including a little graphic to add a pocket, pen and ink splotch. They got the beard and glasses. They don’t let you pick the color or design of the arms, which is a shame. But perhaps things will get better when it opens for real. For now, I’ve got a LEGO me, and he’s pretty neat. Is adorning my office desk for the time being, because if I take him home, I’m probably gonna dress him up like a Ghostbuster or put him in a mech or something.
At the very least, I definitely recommend LEGO’s Minifigure Factory for a good time.
