Multiple Man Might Be Coming Back, Again!
Multiple Man is my all-time favorite comic book character and superhero. He’s currently dead. But for the second time now, Marvel has teased his possible resurrection. Superheroes, especially mutants, come back from the dead all the time. So I think it’s only a matter of time, and as far as I’m concerned, the sooner the better.
A couple months ago, Multiple Man appeared in the Astral Plane in the pages of Astonishing X-Men. He didn’t come back to life and could have been some kind of Shadow King creation.
Well Marvel has done it again in the pages of this week’s Phoenix Resurrection — The Return of Jean Grey. I’ll spoil his appearance after the jump! It’s not definitive, but it’s another promising path!
Just my freakin’ luck…
The big news today is that Disney has gone ahead and bought the Fox entertainment division. It’s all over the news. Here’s a big link explaining it all. This is a huge deal, most importantly for me and you because it means the X-Men and Fantastic Four are now under the control of Marvel Studios. At long last, these two major franchises can join the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Just in time for the Avengers actors to retire now that their contracts are up!
Of course, knowing my luck, this big news — years in the making — has only arrived after Fox announced a freakin’ Multiple Man movie! Come on!
Multiple Man is my all-time favorite superhero and comic book character. The idea that Fox would devote resources to a full-on Multiple Man solo movie was impossible to imagine only a few short weeks ago. But then Fox goes ahead and announces that James Franco is going to make the movie and star. It’s a literal dream come true, and for the first time in my life, I was glad that the X-Men are their own separate film entity and can make movies like Multiple Man.
So of course, immediately after this movie announcement, Disney finally gets the rights back for the X-Men in movies.
God dammit. This is just my freakin’ luck!
And just like when Disney acquired Star Wars and shut down the various video games and TV shows in production, I have to imagine they’re going to put a lot of in-development X-Men projects on the cutting block. And the Multiple Man movie is in its infancy, so there’s no reason to let it go forward.
Of course this is all happening. I just can’t have nice things.

Gabby Just Got the Best Codename Possible!
I really like All-New Wolverine by Tom Taylor, despite never having had much interest in X-23 as a character. It’s a fun book, with strong comedy and even stronger character writing. I’ve fallen a bit behind in my readings, but it’s still good comics.
The breakout character of the series is Gabby, a little kid clone of X-23. She’s a clone of a clone. But she’s absolutely delightful as a fun, energetic kid getting mixed up in superhero hijinks.
Since debuting at the start of the series, Gabby has been known as simply “Gabby”. But this week’s new issue — All-New Wolverine #28 — finally gives Gabby her own superhero codename! And it’s pretty much perfect!

6 Things I Want to See in a Multiple Man Movie
I can’t believe this is happening, but it looks like FOX wants to make a Multiple Man movie starring James Franco! It’s unbelievable! Multiple Man is my all-time favorite comic book character. I thought I was beyond lucky to even get a cameo in X-Men: The Last Stand. But a full-on starring role in his own movie? With a star like Franco? Pinch me, I must be geeky dreaming!
I was first introduced to Jamie Madrox: The Multiple Man in the early 1990s when he had a solid role in writer Peter David’s X-Factor revival. He had a cool costume, including trench coat, cool powers and, most importantly, a sense of humor that I really connected with. He was part prankster and part dryly sarcastic, which was right up my alley. Then when David relaunched Madrox in 2004 as a private eye, he was even better! The character had a true Golden Age for several glorious comic book loving years. He’s the perfect choice for a solo X-Men movie and I am very, very excited about the possibility of this Multiple Man movie getting made.

Strong Guy is Gonna Be a New Mutant!
For reasons that boggle my mind, the title ‘New Mutants’ remains a frequent flyer in the X-Men franchise. It’s a weird name, right? Even when it was first used, to introduce a new, younger team of X-Men, it was still weird. Like, the X-Men knew a lot of other mutants by the time the New Mutants were introduced. Those kids weren’t even the first team of new mutants to join the X-Men.
But whatever. The title keeps getting used for new X-Men comics, and the next one is gonna feature Strong Guy!
I’m telling you all of this because I’m still engaged in the Strong Guy Watch. I’m pretty sure the rule of having Strong Guy randomly appear in the background of X-Men stories has passed, but I loved the character, so I’m calling him out!
The mini-series will be written by Matthew Rosenberg, with art by Adam Gorham. It’s also going to reunite Strong Guy with Wolfsbane, two parts of my favorite comic book friendship trio. I hope Rosenberg does something fun with that.
Yay Strong Guy! Though I’m disappointed that he lost the beard.
