6 Video Games That Could Also Support Unfaithful, Live Action TV Adaptations
Video games are finally getting their due in the world of live action adaptations — but for some reason, the adaptation just isn’t done properly. People are really, really mad at the Halo show for the changes and choices they’ve made that differ from established lore. Even when the showrunners explain what they’re doing and why, fans are still angry.
And Halo isn’t alone. We had our first trailers last week for the upcoming Resident Evil adaptation on Netflix — which won’t have much to do with the pre-existing stories from the games. There will be some classic Resident Evil elements, like the zombies and Umbrella, but there will be all new characters, locations and storylines. So that got me thinking…what other video games could work for live action adaptations that don’t actually use the source material stories? What other live action game adaptations could veer wildly away from what fans actually want?
Join me after the jump for some franchises that would make for some pretty great live action adaptations, especially if the show doesn’t actually adapt the existing game story.

I said it and I’m not gonna take it back. I’m unstoppable. But yeah, that’s my way of introducing this full trailer for the third season of The Boys on Amazon Prime. It looks great!
The Boys is a super fun show, as it was a super fun comic. They recently had that Diabolical cartoon series, which was a lot of fun and you should definitely watch. And you should definitely watch season 3, because, as I’ve heard, it’s gonna be lit.
The Boys returns on June 3!

The Netflix Resident Evil Show At Least Has Zombies
I was a big Resident Evil fan back at the beginning, in my childhood Playstation 1 years. I enjoyed the games so much I sought out and read some tie-in novels, and some novel adaptations of the early games. I dunno. I was just that kind of kid.
I never got into the Resident Evil movies, though I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them all. And I skipped watching that Welcome to Raccoon City movie last year because I heard it was terrible. Suffice to say, I like the lore and characters of Resident Evil, but nobody is really adapting that just right.
And it looks like they’re going to miss the mark again with the upcoming Netflix TV show.
Those two trailers look fine, but it also looks like they’re just taking the zombies, some specific monsters and the Umbrella Corporation and tying them to a completely different story and group of characters. Is that what we want? Is that what any of us want?
Just give me a faithful Resident Evil 2 adaptation complete with Leon, Claire, Hunk and then a Resident Evil 3 with Jill Valentine subplot. Those two games took place at largely the same time, right?
Look at how much success Disney is having with Star Wars shows that give fans what they want!
Anyway, Resident Evil comes to Netflix on July 14. Some of us will watch it that weekend and then nobody will ever talk about it again, because that’s what has becoming of the binging model.

Surprise, Surprise, There’s Going to be a New Doctor Who!
Jody Whittaker’s time as The Doctor is coming to an end at the end of the year, and now the BBC has announced her replacement: Ncuti Gatwa. Hooray for him!
Gatwa will, obviously, be the first Black male to portray The Doctor, and that’s perfectly fine by me. I am definitely not one of those losers whining about The Doctor no longer being a straight, white male. Get out of here with that nonsense.
I don’t know anything about Gatwa and I never watched his main show, Bad Education. So when he shows up, his acting style is going to be a surprise for me! Which is pretty much the exact same thing from most of the other Doctor actors. I’d never heard of Matt Smith before, right?
Anyway, I’m a season behind on Jodie Whittaker, because I agree with everybody else that it’s just not very good. And none of it is Whittaker’s fault. She’s great! But she didn’t get any good episodes or good material. Which is a damn shame! She’s got one special left at the end of the year that will include this regeneration.
