New TV Show Trailers for Everybody!

When did TV show trailers become a thing? I completely understand them, expect them and enjoy them…but did they not simply creep up into our lives like a silent ninja? Did they not just appear suddenly and act like they’d always been here? I don’t remember any trailers for new seasons of Family Matters…

At any rate, enough grousing! Let’s enjoy some fun trailers for Arrow and The Flash, both of which seem like they’re going to embrace their comic book roots in the new seasons!

Green Arrow, Jay Garrick, Atom Smasher, other stuff; this is going to be a fun television season!

DC Still Has No Faith in Hawkman’s Chest

The first picture of the new Hawkman and Hawkgirl from the Arrowverse has arrived, and just like in Smallville a few years ago, the good people at DC and The CW are making sure that Hawkman’s manly, muscular chest is covered up. It’s probably for the best, but still…Hawkman!

The wings are probably CGI

At least he’s still got the mace!

I think I like the costumes. They’re definitely along the lines of the Flash and Green Arrow costumes, and that’s a definite plus. It’s a good look — though those helmets do look slightly silly.

Hawkgirl will be played by Ciara Renee, and Hawkman will be played by Falk Hentschel. DC is apparently sticking with the ‘reincarnated Egytpian lovers’ origin for the Hawks instead of something more modern and realistic. More power to them.

At this point, I don’t remember which shows the two are going to appear on. I’m sure they’ll make the rounds everywhere they can before settling on Legends of Tomorrow.

Jessica Jones Teaser Trailer Evokes Art & Music

The first teaser trailer for Jessica Jones, the next Marvel Netflix show, hit the Internet today, and it’s very evocative. We’ve got moody music, shifty art, and a determined confidence. I like it already!

Of course, comic book fans will recognize the art style as being very reminiscent of Jessica Jones’ original comic book covers. The series was Alias, and it got pretty dark. We’re expecting the show to get just as dark.

This trailer also finally reveals the release date: Nov. 20!

Every episode will go live on Nov. 20, so just like Daredevil, we can watch them all in a weekend! I am definitely excited for this show!

The Game of Thrones/Last Airbender Video of Our Dreams

Oh Internet, I love you so much! Check out the video to see the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender created like the Game of Thrones opening credits!

This is a thing of beauty! Perfectly animated, perfectly built; ryantheram719 has done a pretty great job.

My 6 Favorite Simpsons One-Off Characters

Recently, I started listening to the creator commentaries on The Simpsons on DVD, and it’s been the bee’s knees! The commentaries are full of all sorts of interesting behind-the-scenes chatter and trivia. Like the fact that one writer, John Swartzwelder, wrote 50+ episodes and is likely responsible for every memorable joke, gag or plot from the series – and he’s also an eccentric recluse. Or the fact that the episode where Bart sells his soul is actually based on a prank one writer played on a bully in his youth. And there’s the idea that the creators planned a spin-off called ‘Tales from Springfield’, which would have been about all the supporting characters. Good times!

So for this week’s List of Six, I’ve decided to write one up about my favorite one-off, one-joke Simpsons characters!

I regret having never owned this poster

The Simpsons is not only the best television show of all time, but it’s clearly the best cast of all time. From Homer to Bart to Mr. Burns to Surly to Ruth Powers, there are hundreds of great, timeless characters! But I’m talking the minor, obscure characters who only appeared in a single episode, or maybe had a single gag. Those are some of the absolute best parts of The Simpsons!

Feel free to share some of your own favorites in the comments!
