Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/3/18

I’m still over the moon that we’re getting a new Multiple Man comic book. I don’t know much about this Matthew Rosenberg fella, and I’m slightly disappointed that it isn’t me writing the new Multiple Man comic, but you’re can be darn sure I’m going to read it all! And review it right here!

Some pretty solid comics this week, from Detective Comics to Batgirl to a couple more of DC’s new titles. I’d been waiting to check out The Terrifics and it did not disappoint. But Comic Book of the Week goes to All-New Wolverine for a delightfully funny done-in-one issue.

Comics are awesome

Speaking of new comics, Marvel has officially announced Nick Spencer as taking over Amazing Spider-Man. I don’t have anything to do with the guy’s Twitter feed or whatever brouhaha erupted during Secret Empire, but I really liked his Ant-Man and Superior Foes comics, so I’m definitely on board for his Amazing Spider-Man.

Comic Reviews: All-New Wolverine #31, Batgirl #20, Detective Comics #975, The Silencer #2 and The Terrifics #1.

6 Thoughts on the First Season of Runaways

I am super late with this review listicle for the first season of the Runaways TV show. Not only did the show end several weeks ago, I also finished watching it a couple weeks ago. So apologies on the lateness of this review! Runaways was a fun show and I’m excited for season 2.

Pilot

TV Rating: 7/10 – Good.

I thought the cast of the characters was excellent and the special effects were not bad at all for a TV show on Hulu. It mostly captured the spirit of the comics and is a fine addition to the superhero TV lineup. The dinosaur was especially fun!

Join me after the jump for my thoughts on the first season of Runaways! Expect full SPOILERS for both the show and the comic!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/24/18

I still need to go see Black Panther for a third time…at any rate, I’ve got some solid, quality comics to hold me over!

Can you say Amazing Spider-Man? What about yet another new issue of Tom King’s excellent Batman? Or how about Harley Quinn? I’ve got them all! Including the Comic Book of the Week, Mighty Thor!

Thor Awesome 01

Game of Thrones

In other comic book news, did you see that Marvel is pushing for another big all-enveloping change in May? New Avengers focus, new #1 issues shortly after their big renumbering brouhaha. Big everything. I don’t care. As long as they keep making good comics, I’ll keep reading. Though Jason Aaron handling the Captain America, Iron Man and Thor reunion on a main Avengers title sounds like a cool idea!

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #796, Batman #41, Harley Quinn #38 and Mighty Thor #704.

6 Thoughts on Black Panther

Marvel does it again! And perhaps better than ever! I loved Black Panther, unconditionally. I’ve been super excited about this film and it delivered everything I could have hoped for. Sometimes I’ll have some quiet reservations about a Marvel movie, but not this time. Black Panther is superb! One of Marvel’s absolute best!

Black Panther Review 01

Movie Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic.

I feel a little sorry for anybody decrying superhero fatigue. As a lifelong comic book fan, especially Marvel Comics, I have been living childhood dreams for more than a decade now. We’re 10 years deep into Marvel churning out superhero movies and they are still making films as amazing as Black Panther. Somebody pinch me!

Join me after the jump for my thoughts and a review of Black Panther. There will be FULL SPOILERS for the film. Please feel free to share your own thoughts in the comments!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/17/18

Oh man, Black Panther was an awesome movie! I loved it! So good! If only I was reading Black Panther comics and could review them this week! Does anybody have any opinions on the current Black Panther run by Ta-Nehisi Coates? I gave up pretty early on it, but I’ve heard it gets better in the long run, so I’m considering picking up the TPBs.

Fortunately, we’ve got some good comics here, like DetectiveComics with major developments and a hilarious Unbeatable Squirrel Girl! Comic Book of the Week goes to the new issue of Ms. Marvel for an amazing issue that finally make sense of the current storyline.

Mike Knows 01

Darnit, Mike!

Who knew the storyline that purposefully does not include Ms. Marvel would turn out so good? I had my doubts, but here we are!

Comic Review: Detective Comics #974, Marvel Two-in-One #3, Ms. Marvel #27, Sideways #1 and Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #29.
